chapter 10

it's been two weeks now since Olivia left Jason's house.. She had settled back in her life but she hasn't been able to get him out of her mind. She told her friend about her stay at his place and didn't notice how she couldn't stop talking about him. She was relieved that they didn't get physical though. she wasn't sure how things would have been between them if they had crossed the line from being friends to lovers.

A couple of days ago she had a call from Karl. Karl was a friend to Stephanies boyfriend Drake. Even though her friend denied several times about giving the Karl her number she was sure it was her handwork. Stephanie has been keen about hooking her up with one of Drake's friends so they could all hang out as a couple with Olivia feeling like a third wheel. but Olivia had turn down her request, so when Karl called she decided to play along so as to keep her mind from wondering towards Jason.

When Karl called, he sounded high class and when they got talking she discovered he had a degree and a master's degree. Wow she thought.

Karl had asked her on a date and had called few hours to the time to cancel. He seemed too busy to busy to offer me the kind of attention I craved for. she thought to herself.

Olivia had suggested they meet at a restaurant close to her house and had planned with her friend Stephanie to pretend to be in the same restaurant as them so she'll be able to access and rate her "forbidden fruit". she can't deny the fact that she is attracted to him but is cought up between her desires for him and his profession.

Jason was seated by the window at the restaurant with a clear view of the serene outside when Olivia arrived at the restaurant. she was relieved to see him dressed to impress as usual. now she hoped that it won't take her friend a long time to get here. he had his million dollars smile on when he spotted her and said, " hello, you look beautiful". " hello to you too" she said grinning. He pulled out her chair like the perfect gentleman that he is for her to seat, as she sat down she quickly grabbed her phone to hurry her friend up. she wanted Steph to spend time with him and give her a honest opinion.

Sorry Jason, I had to send an important message. he shook his head unbotherd .

Olivia had her eyes on the door already so she spotted Steph immediately she stepped into the restaurant and she winked at her friend while approaching their table.

"Oh my God, that's Stephanie, what are you doing here?" Jason raised and eyebrow.

"Hi" she waved at Jason. " I came to have lunch at the opposite place but did like the ambience so here I am. " oh really?" Jason smiled.

Jason, do you mind if Steph sits with us for a while?" " no, please have a seat" she ordered for fruit salad and then there was an uncomfortable silence. Steph decided to break the silence. " how's work Jason?" " brilliant" he said.

" that's great. is your work seasonal or you work all year round?" his face was straight and void of any emotion. " busy all through" he didn't sound keen on having a spare wheel. " a little bird told me you have been stealing my friend all the weekends, it this true?" he turned to her and his eyebrows c**ked and said, " have I?"

Olivia looked away in disappointment, he wasn't saying much. she had arranged this meeting so her friend could see if he had potential she has been missing and she wanted Steph to see the spark between them but the way things are going she didn't think her friend is going to say anything negative about him anymore. as for Jason, he appeared to be in control. It looked like he had picked up on what she had planned and wasn't impressed. he coughed and dabbed his mouth with a napkin. he had eaten much of his food. Oli and Steph were still eating when he called the waiter's attention for the bill. he took a look and counted the bill and slipped it into the case. " this should cover for lunch" he turned to Stephanie, " I'm sorry I have to leave, I hope we do this again sometime soon" he turned to Olivia, he was smiling but not the broad one she was use to. he bent to her and wispered " will you ring me later to let me know how well I did in the interview?" he then place a soft kiss on her lips. we'll see later?? she just nodded her head still shocked.

" I think you have a thing for calling me every Friday evenings" he said when he answered his phone. " what? I called because I....I...I..." she stuttered." I just wanted to check up on you" He couldn't help but smile. " how hard could it be for you to apologise and confess that you Miss me?"

she felt guilty after the lunch arrangements and when he didn't call for a week she had a pressing need to call and explain that she meant no harm.

" I apologise, Jason"

"for what exactly? for calling your friend to analyze and scare me away?"

" I see she succeeded, as you've been distant"

" what can I say, you haven't made up your mind on what you want"

" it's confusing"

" you know what? let's go somewhere together. there's a holiday coming up so you can pack a bag let's go out for....."

"hey,hey.. slow down man. she was alarmed. she had only called to apologise and reestablish contact but it seemed he has been planning a long time for this moment.

" someone I know has a beach house so I was thinking if you could come with me"

" wow, what are we doing now, renting love nest to cocoon there? she was shocked.

" you don't need your friend to help you get to know me, you can do it all on your own. it's really nothing and I think you will like it there. if you don't, I'll bring you back immediately. that's a promise but I'm sure that you're gonna love the serenity. she sighed. " I'm not sure it's a good idea." will you come with me to pick up the keys tomorrow please. I'd appreciate it if you'll make it by noon?. " of course " she agreed to the gateway before she even had time to think about it. he smiled. " it's a beach house so no heels are required. it's a good thing you can swim". she blinked in confusion.

" tommorow?" " yeah" she wispered.

after the call she went to her closet to get appropriate clothes for her getaway with Jason.
