DAISY'S POV With that, Lazarus began to fade away like smoke, but his voice still echoed around us. "I'll be waiting, daughter. And when you're ready to end the pain, you know where to find me." Then he was gone, Noah and I stood there watching him disappear into the air, we looked at each other. I picked up my purse and I looked up at Noah, and I could see my own fear reflected in his golden eyes. "Noah," I whispered. "Can I really fight this? Is he right about all that he said?" I was Worried I don't want Alpha Noah and the pack to be in trouble all because of me. The moment I asked Noah the question, I felt like something was moving around me. I felt something strange in my stomach. A kind of feeling I couldn't explain or name. I bend trying to get myself, I struggle to move, Noah notices what was going on with me and trying to help me I looked at how worried he was for my well being. He crossed my hand on his shoulder just to help me walk back home. And when I looked at Noah, for just a split second, I wondered if I could bite someone and what the blood may taste like. The thought terrified me so much that I started to shake. "Daisy?" Noah noticed something strange And gently made me sit down by the side of a tree. He said, stay here, I want to get you something to make you feel better. “seems your dad possessed some dark powers to your system that will change you into a dark vampire. If I don't get something for you to stop, things may get out of hand. Just as he tried to take my hand to see how serious it became. "Don't," I said quickly. "Don't touch me. Not until we figure out what's happening to me." Because if my father was right, if I really was turning into some kind of monster that craved werewolf blood, then Noah was in more danger than either of us realized. And I would rather die than hurt him. But as we walked back toward the pack house in tense silence, I could feel the hunger growing stronger with each step. Time was running out. Noah remained silent not even a single word as we walked back, I saw the way he stared at the surrounding, but I could see him watching me from the corner of his eye. Every few steps, he would sniff the air, and his face would get more worried. And he was being more careful 🧐 The hunger in my stomach was getting worse. My system really changed so much I don't know what my father has done to me. My body was so hurt and weak I felt like I hadn't fed for some days but I knew food wouldn't help. It's not really a matter of food now, it seems like my father has planned to use me against the werewolves. This was a different kind of hunger. This is a kind of hunger That makes vampires drink any kind of blood. "Wait," Noah said suddenly, stopping in the middle of the garden. "I need to get you something before we go back to the pack house." "What do you mean?" I asked, but even talking was getting hard. My throat felt dry and scratchy. I try to keep calm to reserve the little strength that I have left. After he had quickly dropped me gently, before I could even know it. Noah walked over to a big oak tree and started pulling off pieces of bark. Then he went to some bushes and picked certain leaves. He knew exactly what he was looking for. I watched him struggle to get me something to make me feel better, when I saw the worries In his face I felt guilt, he never had to meet someone like me who is a threat to his position and his people. He got it and returned back to where I was sitting. He looked at me with confidence now. "It was my grandmother who taught me about these herbs when I was little," he said, crushing the bark and leaves together in his hands. "She said they could help fight dark magic." I looked at the herbs. It was really extraordinary. Noah looked around like he was checking out something and his eyes landed in the other direction. He found a small stream nearby and mixed the crushed herbs with the water. The mixture turned a weird green color and smelled terrible. He looked at me and raised it up to my mouth. "Drink this," he said, holding out his cupped hands. The moment it reached closer to my mouth my face changed. "It smells awful," I complained, but the hunger was getting so bad that I would have drunk anything. I opened my mouth and squeezed my eyes closed. Holy grip, I couldn’t hold back the taste of the herbs. The moment the bitter liquid touched my tongue, I felt better at least. Not completely better, but like someone had turned down the volume on the hunger. I could think clearly again. Noah was seriously watching my expression, his eyes were on mine. I looked at him and smiled. I pretended like it didn't work. I try to act funny. He panicked and I laughed. “Don't run, I'm a little better now.” I held his hands, “thank you so much,” “but you were so amazing.” I whispered. "How did you know that would work?" I asked. Noah's face got brighter. "Because this isn't the first time I've seen someone affected by vampire mind control. My grandmother... she had to help a lot of people over the years." There was something in his voice that made me think there was more to the story, but before I could ask, he had stood up already walking. But I ran to him and held his hand while we walked together. He stared at me like he wasn't seeing clearly, “it seems you have forgotten your holding my hand?” I smiled who knows they might return back so I have to stay next to you before I disappear. He smiled and walked faster, "Come on. We need to get back. The herbs won't last long." By the time we got to the pack house, I was feeling almost normal again. The terrible hunger was still there, but it was quiet now, like a sleeping monster in my stomach. Noah led me straight to his study and closed the door behind us. He looked at me like. "Stay here," he said. "Don't go anywhere. Don't talk to anyone. I'm going to call the healer." "The healer?" I asked. "Noah, I don't think a regular healer can help with this.” He raised his hand to my face and left my face up to look at him. “All I need you now is for you to follow my instructions.” "Trust me," he said, and there was something in his eyes that made me believe him. I really have to because he's good at handling vampire issues. I thought to myself, "This healer is... special." I nodded, and he closed the door behind him. He left me alone in the study, and I could hear him making phone calls in the hallway. His voice was too low for me to understand what he was saying, but he sounded urgent. And left, I was looking through the window watching some of the pack members who were walking around. While I waited, I looked around his study. I'd never really paid attention to it before, but now I noticed something strange. There were books everywhere about vampires and dark magic. “What are these for?” I keep looking around, moving gently. Old books with worn covers and pages that looked like they might fall apart if you touched them. “Has he been studying all these books?” I looked at the desk. One book was lying open on his desk. The page it was turned to had a drawing of a person who looked like they were screaming. I continued staring at the opened page. The title at the top of the page said "Vampire Possession and Mind Control." I looked away from the book for a moment, My blood went cold. Had Noah known this might happen? Had he been preparing for it? I tried to look into the book one more time but Before I could read more, the door opened and Noah came back in with someone I'd never seen before. I quietly moved away from his desk, staring at the woman who was standing next to him. The woman was old, maybe seventy or eighty, with long gray hair braided down her back. She was wearing a simple black dress and carried a large bag that smelled like herbs and something else I couldn't identify. But it was her eyes that caught my attention. They were the strangest color I'd ever seen - p urple, just like mine when my vampire side came out. "This is Vera," Noah said. "She's going to help you
