Chapter 31:The way out

1217 Words
DAISY'S POV I was sitting in the safe room that Noah had made for me when I felt something terrible happening. My chest started hurting and my hands began shaking. Something was very wrong with Noah. I could feel it through our mate bond. "Luna Daisy, are you okay?" asked Jenny, one of the pack women guarding me. "You look very pale." "It's Noah," I whispered, holding my chest. "He's in danger. I can feel it." "The Alpha is strong," Jenny said gently. "He can take care of himself. You need to stay calm for your baby." But I couldn't stay calm. Something inside me was getting stronger and stronger. It felt like energy building up, wanting to break free. It wanted to protect Noah, and nothing was going to stop it. "Jenny, you need to leave this room right now," I said, standing up quickly. "What? Why, Luna?" "Because something is happening to me," I said. Golden light started coming out of my hands. Jenny's eyes went wide. "Luna Daisy, what's happening?" That's when the power exploded out of me like a bomb. Golden light filled the entire room, then spread through the whole house, then kept going outside. I felt myself being lifted off the floor as the energy took control of everything around me. Through the golden light, I could see what was happening to Noah. I could see his brother Lucas and the vampires and terrible creatures trying to hurt him. My mate was in danger, and something inside me would never allow that. The power was so strong that I couldn't see the safe room anymore. There was only golden light everywhere and the need to protect Noah no matter what. Then it exploded outward like a golden sun. When the light got less bright, I wasn't in the safe room anymore. I wasn't even in the pack house. I was moving through the air, carried by the golden energy like invisible hands. Below me, I could see the forest where Noah was fighting. I could see the shadow demons and vampires burning up in my golden light. They were screaming as the power destroyed them, turning them into ash in seconds. The power kept spreading outward, killing everything dark and evil for miles. Every shadow demon, every blood creature, every monster that had come to hurt my pack - they were all dying. I watched as my power reached toward the vampire woman and her followers. The golden light wrapped around them like chains, but then I saw something that made me feel sick. One of the vampires was a young woman who looked scared, and I could tell she was pregnant too. I didn't want to kill pregnant mothers. Even if she was a vampire, she was still a mother like me. Instead of killing all the vampires, the power threw them far away from Noah. Miles and miles away, back to their own lands where they couldn't hurt him. The power was still carrying me through the air, but I didn't know where it was taking me. The forest below looked different. The trees were darker and bigger, and I had never seen this place before. Finally, the power put me down in a clearing deep in a forest I didn't know. The trees were huge and very old, and the air felt thick with magic. As soon as my feet touched the ground, all the golden light went away and I felt normal again. Well, as normal as a pregnant hybrid could feel. I looked around, trying to figure out where I was. But nothing looked familiar at all. These weren't the forests near Noah's territory. These trees were completely different and much older. There was a smell in the air that made my wolf nervous. Other wolves. Lots of them. I started walking, hoping I could find my way back to Noah's territory. But after walking for more than an hour, I knew I was completely lost. The forest seemed to go on forever, and every direction looked the same. I was tired and scared. My baby was heavy in my belly, and I didn't know how I was going to get home. Noah must be so worried about me. He probably thought something terrible had happened. That's when I heard growling behind me. I turned around and saw six large wolves coming out from behind the trees. Their eyes were yellow and angry, and their fur was standing up. These were not friendly wolves. "I don't want any trouble," I said, putting my hands up peacefully. "I'm just trying to find my way home." The biggest wolf was a huge gray male. He changed into human form, and I could see he was tall and muscular with scars all over his chest and arms. "You're on Silverwood Pack territory," he said in a deep, scary voice. "We don't allow strangers here." "I'm very sorry," I said. "I didn't know this was your land. If you could just tell me which way to go-" "Be quiet," the man said rudely. "You smell like a vampire." My heart sank. Of course I smelled like a vampire. I was half vampire. "I'm not here to hurt anyone," I said carefully. "I'm pregnant. I just want to go home to my mate." "Vampires don't have mates," another wolf said as he changed to human form. "And vampires don't get pregnant." "I'm not a full vampire," I explained. "I'm a hybrid. Half vampire and half werewolf." The moment I said hybrid, all six wolves started growling again, even louder. "Hybrid," the gray wolf said the word like it tasted bad. "You're an abomination." "Please," I said, stepping back slowly. "I just want to leave. I don't want to cause any problems." "You can't leave," the gray wolf said. "Hybrids are forbidden. You should have been killed when you were born." "But I wasn't killed," I said. "And I'm not hurting anybody." "Your existence hurts everybody," said a female wolf as she changed to human form. "Hybrids bring nothing but trouble wherever they go." I had heard people say that about me many times before. I was always blamed for things that weren't my fault. "That's not true," I said. "Isn't it?" the gray wolf asked. "I can smell the power on you. Dangerous power. The kind that brings demons and monsters." He was right about me having power, but it wasn't dangerous like he thought. My power protected people. It didn't hurt them. "My power helps people," I said. "It doesn't hurt them." "You're lying," the female wolf said. "We know what hybrid power does. We've seen the terrible things it causes." "I'm telling you the truth." "Prove it," the gray wolf said. "How?" "Show us your power," he said. "If it's really good like you say, then show us." I was scared to do that. The power had just carried me miles away from home. I wasn't sure I could control it well enough to just show them safely. "I don't think that's a good idea," I said. "Because you know it's dangerous," the female wolf said. "No, because I might hurt you by accident," I said. "My power is very strong when I'm scared." "So you admit it's dangerous."
