Burning desire

944 Words
*Irene* I can feel the air thick with something electric, something that makes my skin tingle and my heart race. I glance at Benjamin, standing beside me, his hands still dripping with water while his gaze is glued to the floor. He’s so adorably cautious, like a deer caught in headlights, and it sends a thrill through me. “Dinner was nice,” I say, wiping my hands on a dish towel, letting the moment linger. “But I think there’s something even better we could do to pass the time.” I lean against the counter, my body angled toward him, inviting yet challenging, like a flame beckoning a moth. He shakes his head slightly, a nervous laugh escaping him. “Irene, I appreciate the offer, but…” “But what?” I cut in, my voice soft yet teasing. “You’re still afraid of getting burned?” I step a little closer, our bodies almost touching, and I can see the internal battle raging behind his stormy eyes. The tension crackles between us, a palpable force that seems to defy reason. “Maybe it’s not the fire I’m worried about,” he replies, his voice low, a hint of vulnerability slipping through. I can see it in the way he clenches his jaw, the way he tries to maintain that careful distance. But I’m here to dismantle his defenses, one playful tease at a time. “Then what is it? You scared of me?” I challenge, tilting my head slightly, my hair cascading over my shoulder. “You think I’m going to bite?” I smirk, enjoying the way he shifts uncomfortably, the heat radiating from his body like an open flame. “I just… this isn’t right,” he says, his voice strained, but the way he looks at me… like I’m a forbidden fruit… sends a shiver down my spine. “We shouldn’t…” “Shouldn’t what?” I take another step closer, my breath hitching as I catch a whiff of his scent, so intoxicating and familiar. “You can’t deny that there’s something here, Benjamin. Something that pulls us together like gravity…. Lust, desire.” “Irene…” His voice trails off, and I can see him wrestling with his desires. It’s almost adorable how he tries to fight it, but I’m not giving up that easily. “Tell me you don’t feel it,” I whisper, and the challenge hangs between us like a taut string, ready to snap at any moment. “Tell me you don’t want this… want me.” His breath hitches, and I see the flicker of desire flash in his eyes, momentarily overpowering the caution that has him so tightly wound. “I want to keep things… professional,” he stammers, but the way his voice wavers gives him away. He’s teetering on the edge, and I’m ready to push him over. “I need to.” “Professional?” I chuckle softly, letting the sound wrap around us. “Is that what you call this? Because I’m pretty sure the only thing we’re being professional about is how to ignore the chemistry sizzling between us.” I step back, feigning innocence, though my heart races in anticipation of his next move. “Irene, I…” I slide my hand along the counter, inching closer, letting my fingers dance over the surface, teasingly close to his. “What’s the worst that could happen? A little fun? A little adventure?” His gaze darkens, and I can see his resolve slipping, layer by layer. “I don’t think you understand how dangerous this is,” he murmurs, but there’s a flicker of excitement in his eyes. “Oh, I understand perfectly,” I reply, my voice dropping to a sultry whisper. “But maybe it’s time to embrace the danger. Let go of the fear.” I step even closer, my heart pounding, a predator closing in on its prey. “What if we just… forget about the consequences for tonight?” “Tonight…?” he echoes, and I can see the wheels turning in his mind, the way he’s fighting against the pull of temptation. “Irene, you should probably go home.” I scoff lightly, shaking my head. “Why would I want to go home when we could f**k like rabbits?” The air crackles with unspoken desire, and I can see his composure cracking. I watch him, my gaze unwavering, as he considers my words, as he wrestles with the monster he’s kept caged for so long. The silence stretches, thick and heavy, and I can feel the shift in the air, the way the power dynamic is beginning to tilt in my favor. Then, a low growl rumbles in his chest, a primal sound that sends a shiver down my spine. “If that’s what you want,” he says, his voice now rough, edged with a hunger that I’ve only ever seen flashes of before. Before I can respond, he’s on me, his hands gripping my arms, yanking me against him with a force that steals my breath. The counter digs into my back, hard and unforgiving, but I don’t care. All I can think about is the searing heat of his body, the way he’s looking at me like he’s about to devour me whole. “You want to play with fire, Irene?” he murmurs, his lips brushing against my ear, sending a jolt of electricity through me. “Then you’d better be prepared to get burned.” His words are a promise and a threat, and I arch against him, a silent invitation.
