*Irene*
The aroma of baked pasta wafts through the air, mingling with the lingering scent of his cologne. I can barely contain my excitement as I hear the soft padding of his footsteps approaching. I can feel the warmth of the oven radiating against my skin, but it pales in comparison to the heat pooling in my belly as I anticipate his presence.
Benjamin steps into the kitchen, and the sight of him… damp hair tousled, the remnants of steam clinging to his skin… sends a jolt through me. He’s wearing a simple white t-shirt that hugs his body just right, accentuating the curve of his shoulders and the tautness of his arms.
“Wow, it smells amazing in here,” he says, his eyes lighting up as they land on the bubbling dish in the oven. I can’t help but smile, the thrill of being here, of being with him, wrapping around me like a warm blanket.
“Just a little something I whipped up,” I reply, trying to keep my voice steady, though my heart races at the sight of him. “I figured you could use a proper meal after your long day.”
He leans against the counter, a playful smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “You really didn’t have to go through all this trouble for me.”
“It’s no trouble at all,” I say, stepping closer, letting the warmth of my body radiate toward him. “Besides, I wanted to do something nice for you. You deserve it.”
He watches me closely, his gaze flickering over my face and then dropping to my lips, and I feel a delicious rush of heat. I can’t help but lean in a little closer, letting the tension simmer between us like the pasta in the oven. “You look… relaxed,” I tease, my voice dipping low as I let my gaze linger on his lips, it is enticing that he had no idea I Was watching him. “The shower must have worked wonders.”
“It did,” he replies, his voice low and gravelly, sending shivers down my spine. “Though it’s hard to forget about the day I’ve had.” He lets out a soft sigh, but the way he looks at me, with both curiosity and a hint of something deeper, makes my pulse quicken.
“Tell me about your day,” I say, trying to keep my tone light, though I can't shake the memory of watching him in the shower, the way he’d touched himself, lost in his own world. My cheeks flush at the thought, but I maintain my composure, wanting to keep him engaged, wanting to know more about the man standing before me.
He hesitates for a moment, as if weighing his words carefully. “Just the usual grind, you know? Cases piling up, deadlines looming. I had a meeting with the precinct about that murder case.”
I feign a casual demeanor, though my heart races at the mention of murder. “The one where the victim was last seen at the bar?”
His eyes narrow slightly, measuring my knowledge. “Yeah, that’s the one.”
“I saw him,” I say, my words spilling out before I can stop myself. “The man at the bar, I mean. I was there alone, just having a drink, and he was talking about wanting a woman, someone he could have fun with.” I try to sound casual, but I can feel the intensity of his gaze on me. “He seemed… desperate, like he was searching for something.”
Benjamin leans in, intrigued. “What do you mean by desperate?”
I can’t resist the urge to tease him a bit more. “Well, he was with a couple of friends, and they were laughing, but there was this edge to him. Like he was putting on a show, but inside, he was still alone.” I step back, pretending to focus on the oven, but I can feel his eyes on me, weighing my every word.
“Like he wanted to be seen?” he says, watching me. “You did not happen to see him leave with anyone?”
“No sorry,” I shake my head slowly. “What about you? Do you feel seen?” I take a step closer, letting my body brush against his, the contact sending sparks through me. “Because I see you, Benjamin. The real you.”
For a moment, the air between us thickens, charged with unspoken words and desires. I know I’m flirting, pushing boundaries, but something about him makes me feel bold, like I can take risks I never would have considered before.
He swallows hard, his gaze flickering down to my lips again, and I can sense the heat rising between us. “You make it hard to focus when you’re this close,” he murmurs, and I can’t help but smile at his honesty.
“Maybe that’s the point,” I say, my voice dropping to a sultry whisper. “Maybe I want to distract you.”
His breath hitches, and I can see the battle playing out in his eyes. “You’re playing with fire, Irene.”
“And I’m not afraid to get burned,” I reply, my heart racing as I lean in ever so slightly, the space between us becoming electric. “Besides, I have a feeling we both enjoy a little danger.”
He chuckles, the tension easing just a little, though it’s clear that the air is thick with something unspoken. “You’re right,” he admits, his voice turning serious. “But let’s focus on dinner first.”
I step back slightly, giving him space as I pull the pasta from the oven, the bubbling dish sizzling and fragrant. “Dinner is ready,” I announce, trying to keep my voice steady, though my heart is still racing from the closeness of our earlier exchange.
As I serve him a generous portion, I can feel his eyes on me, the weight of his gaze igniting a fire within me. “You really didn’t have to go to all this trouble,” he says again, though there’s a softness in his tone, a hint of appreciation that makes my heart soar.
“I wanted to,” I say, looking up to meet his eyes. “I want you to have a real meal, to feel appriciated.”
He nods, a flicker of understanding passing between us. “I appreciate that, more than you know.”
As we sit down to eat, I can’t help but let my mind wander again, picturing the way he had looked in the shower, the tension in his muscles, the way he lost himself in pleasure. It’s intoxicating, and I find myself drawn to him, wanting to peel back the layers of his life until I uncover the man beneath the facade.
With each bite of the delicious meal, I can feel the chemistry between us crackling, and I know that tonight is just the beginning of something thrilling… something dark and dangerous that neither of us can resist.
And as I watch him savor the food I made, I can’t help but wonder just how deep I’m willing to go to make him mine.
