'Always clumsy, nothing close to smart, nothing like any teenager out there. I wonder why on earth I didn't get rid of a bastard like you during pregnancy!!.' That was mum, carrying out her daily nagging ritual. Ever since she got married three years ago, nothing I did seemed right. Incessant nagging had become her daily routine. I often wondered if insulting me added some kind of nutrients to her body. Today she called me stupid, tomorrow it'd be foolish and the next 'good for nothing'. This woman seemed to go to school just to gather vocabulary of insults for me. To think that I didn't even need to commit any offence before getting a full offload of insults and curses. Demian, her husband didn't make it less worse. It seemed he'd taken it upon himself to make life even more worse for me. While mum was busy insulting me on one side, he'd be on the other side gingering her and reminding her of former offenses. I had tried hard to gain their love years ago but seeing clearly that it was dream that wasn't meant to come through, I decided to accept my fate. I walked out of the house determined never to return. Clouds of thoughts formed in my head. Maybe I should just leave and let her have some peace of mind. Maybe I'd find love in the streets. Maybe I wasn't supposed to be loved. Maybe I was even cursed. I knew I was a product of r**e but I've never been able to answer questions as to why she made life unbearable for me. I recall her telling a friend that she got pregnant after getting r***d by a member of a gang of robbers that killed her only brother. So, maybe I was a reminder of the pain she went through that night. I just walked on ignoring the fact that it had gotten so dark and empty in the street. My God!!... I had nowhere to go. No close relatives neither did I have friends to run to for help. Taking turns on impulse, I just moved on. Being so consumed in my thoughts, I didn't hear a car pull up behind me. All I remember was a mask on my face before I passed out...
