Eva's POV
I was anxious to say the least. I was getting married to Quince! It may not have been a big gathering, but that did nothing to lessen the butterflies fluttering about in my stomach.
And it didn't help that Mr. Mavoric was teasing me about it either. My only fear was that Linos could show up at any time. But considering where we were right now, I'd say that would be next to impossible.
A knock sounded before someone entered. I looked through the mirror to see Mr. Mavoric grinning back at me. But I was to shaken to even return a simple smile.
"Nervous I see", he observed.
"Yeah", I responded as I fiddled with the edge of the veil.
"I came to wish you luck and good fortune, not you'll need it", he tried to lighten the mood.
"Well, I'm a nervous wreck, but even that isn't going to stop the wedding, now is it?" I enquired nervously and Mr. Mavoric shook his head in response.
"If it helps you feel better, I'll be the one walking you down the isle. After all, I did sign myself up to be your father from the moment you stepped into this place", he smiled. But a frown began etching itself unto my face.
"I miss my dad", I admitted, "And my step mom".
"Hey", I hadn't noticed how close Mr. Mavoric had gotten until he placed a hand on my shoulder, "Where ever they are, they'd be proud of you. Everything your doing is for the good off all. Not to mention what you're doing for Azzy".
"You're right", I smiled up at him, "Speaking of Azzy, where is the little devil?"
