September 8th, 2014 ________________________________________________________________________ Chapter 2 - Harvey Duke I picked at my nails as I waited behind the gym like Terrence had instructed me to. He rounded the corner and my stomach sprouted butterfly trees. "Hey" he said bitterly. "Hello" I said and bit my tongue trying to hold back a comment on his Supernatural themed necklace and sleeping with sirens band t-shirt that wasn't very well hidden by his Varsity football jacket. "Come on" he started to walk towards his car. It was sleek and black and surprisingly reminded me of him. I slid in the passenger seat and the drive was silent. He parked in front of a big house. "You live here?" I asked stunned. "Yea, skinned cats hanging on the wall and all" he spat bitterly yet smirked. "sorry about that" I mumbled. "Just drop it" he hissed. I nodded, and we walked into the house. We simply opened the door and Jason Derulo's Talk Dirty blared through the house. Terrence growled and stormed up the stairs. I followed not knowing what else to do. He slammed his hand on a bedroom door and seconds later it open and me breath caught. his tan skin was only covered by a loose pair of plaid p.j bottoms and his brown hair was shaggy and unkempt. his blue eyes matched Terrence's. He leaned against the door frame and looked at Terrence with crossed arms that showed off his huge biceps and washboard abs. "Turn the s**t down" Terrence sneered. "Aw Rexy" his voice was like velvet, "too loud?" "Yea" Terrence, "I’m trying to study" he gestured to me, "turn it down" The guy turned his head to look at me. he scanned my body up and down making me a bit uncomfortable and he let a sinfully alluring smile creep its way onto his perfect lips. "and who might this fine piece of cuteness be?" He smiled. "I'm Harvey" I said. "Well aren't you just adorable" he c****d his head to the side and smiled wider, "Harvey huh? like the musical bout the guy who saw the rabbit?" "That's what my aunt says" I said. "Then I’ll call you bunny" he smiled. "No" Terrence said, "you will not" He grabbed my wrist and took a few steps before looking back, "and put a f*****g shirt on" "Not in your wildest dreams Rexy! and nice to meet you Bunny!" he called after us. Terrence closed his door and I was surprised by his room. The walls were navy blue and there was a massive window that had cream curtains swept to the sides and to the left was a queen-sized bed with white sheets and a bark blue comforter. There was at least 3 pillows and a flat screen on the other wall. Speakers were mounted on the wall and several band posters were hung up. There was a coffee table in the center on the room and a small love seat to the left of it. "Sorry about the douche bag over there" he rubbed the back of his neck. "If I may ask" I paused, "who is he?" "He's my older brother, Cole, he's only here for a few more weeks then he heads off to college" he said. "What year is he?" I asked not aware that every question about Cole was making Terrence have an even deeper hate towards the man. "4th" he spat. I locked my lips closed noticing how angry he was. "Terrence—" he cut me off by slamming his hand on the wall and glaring at me. "Terrence" he spat, "it's such a stupid name, please" he seems like he was pleading with me at this point, "just call me Rex" I nodded, and he plopped down on the love seat. he looked at me and I started to squirm where I stood. "You can sit down you know" he snickered. I sat down on the floor near the coffee table and folded my legs under me but. "That works" he grumbled. I took out my books and he did the same. "What should we start with?" I asked nervously knowing that this guy could literally slit my throat with his eyes. "Music" he sighed and leaned over to the speakers and My Chemical Romance started to play. I smiled slightly at the song.  Hand in mine, into your icy blues And then I'd say to you we could take to the highway With this trunk of ammunition too I'd end my days with you in a hail of bullets I'm trying, I'm trying To let you know just how much you mean to me And after all the things we put each other through and I would drive on to the end with you A liquor store or two keeps the gas tank full And I feel like there's nothing left to do But prove myself to you and we'll keep it running But this time, I mean it I'll let you know just how much you mean to me As snow falls on desert sky Until the end of everything I'm trying, I'm trying To let you know how much you mean As days fade, and nights grow And we go cold I tapped my pencil along with the beat. "You like them?" he asked a bit shocked. "Just because I’m a nerd doesn't mean I have no taste in music, what'd you think I listened to? medieval pop?" I scoffed jokingly but I didn't expect him to break into laughter. I blinked at him stunned as he clutched his stomach and laughed. When he regained his composure, her looked at me. "Chem." he stated, "I don't understand a damn thing" "Good thing I’m acing AP" I smiled and flipped the chem book open. "Stupid genius" he teased. "That phrase is contradicting" I smirked, and he gave me a warning glance. ~*~*~ "How did you do it?" he asked now that he had given up on studying after 3 hours. "Do what?" I asked recording vocab words for Lit.  "Do all the book stuff, I mean you're only a Junior and you’re smarter than the freaking president" he said staring up at the ceiling. "I doubt I’m smarter than Mr. Obama" I commented pushing the rim of my glasses up.  He turned to face me and reached his arm out taking my glasses from my face. "Hey!" I protested. "You look better without glasses" he said sleepily, and I blushed. He pressed a hand to my forehead and pulled away quickly. "You have a fever" he said. "I don't" I scoffed and went to stand up, but my legs gave out and wouldn't support me, so I fell back down. "Told ya" he said with a worried smirk. "I need to get home—" my eyed felt heavy and I couldn't keep them open anymore, I fell to the side and collapsed. ~*~*~*~ I woke up and sat up quickly. I looked at the clock and cursed, it was midnight. The room was dark but based strictly on size I knew I was in Rex's room. The door opened back lighting Rex as he stood in the door way.  He wore a loose tank top with Fall Out Boy printed on it in big letters and some black work out pants that got tighter at the bottom. He was fluffing his hair with a towel. "You ok?" he asked. I nodded then realized he probably couldn't see me, "yea" I said, and my voice cracked. He walked in and sat next to me on the bed. He pressed his forehead to mine and I blushed. "you still have a fever" she said pulling away, "I called your aunt and told her what happened" "How'd you—"  "she agreed it's be best for you to stay here for the night" he cut me off, you know, I’m getting real sick of him doing that, "my mom made some soup if you're hungry" "you know you interrupting me is getting pretty damn annoying" I hissed. "so, soup?" I nodded, and he let out a soft chuckle. He left but came back moments later. He tapped the lamp next to the bed and placed a bowl on the bedside table. He closed the door and sat next to me again. He dipped the spoon in the soup and blew on it softly before bringing it up. "I can do it myself" I retorted to the gesture. "You should let people do things for you" he huffed. "I'm fine on my own" I pouted. "Vee, you still owe me" he said, "don't forget that" How could I forget?
