AUTHOR'S POV “Anything yet, Cole, Carl?” Cray asked in concern, his nostrils flared as they kept searching for her. Cole stuck his nose low to the ground, taking a deep breath. “Not yet,” he said in a worried voice. Panic filled each of them, but they couldn't communicate it. All senses were on high alert as they followed her trail. Beside him, Carl just shook his head as he kept looking around with golden eyes. As the trees got fewer, he picked up his pace toward a familiar ravine in the distance. He always visited that ravine when he needed to have peace. Which was literally most of the time. Just past the trees, Carl froze. Tilting his head, he focused on a disturbance below in the ravine. Something was not right. Suddenly, her scent grew stronger on the wind as they got close
