Too Far

“You worthless w***e!” My father threw me against the wall as soon as he entered my room, “You seduced Prince James because you couldn’t handle the fact that your sister was going to get married didn’t you?”

“No, father, I didn’t! I promise you I never tried to seduce him,” I would’ve tried to scooch away from him, but my back was to the wall.

Father’s eyes blazed with even more anger, “And now you dare talk back to me. Have my punishments not been enough for you all these years? Fine, I will make you obedient to me once and for all.” Suddenly he turned away from me to glare at Seriah, “You have never seen what I’ve done to her, so this will be your punishment for going behind my back. You will hold her down while I beat her. Hopefully, she dies so you can witness her dying breath!”

“No, father, this is wrong! What has she ever done to you to deserve this treatment?” Seriah cried and backed away from the monster we call father.

My father rushed up to her and grabbed her hair and held her still, “You should feel lucky that I don’t give you any punishments. Now go do as I say!”

“It’s alright, Seriah. I can handle it,” I weakly stand up and glare at the monster, “He’s a coward that has anger management issues. This is nothing new.”

“Say that again, and I’ll cut your tongue out!” I’m pretty sure the whole castle heard that yell. My father rushed up to me and threw me through a glass table that I had against the wall, making me scream out in pain.

Suddenly everything goes quiet as a knock sounds at the door with Prince James’s voice following, “Lilly what’s going on in there?”

“Seriah get rid of him. I don’t care if you come back, I will just double Lilly’s punishment.”

Seriah quickly bowed her head and left the room. She barely opened the door to go. I don’t think she wanted the Prince to see what my father was doing to me. I was upset that she was just leaving me like this, but I also knew that there was nothing she could do for me. She could never do anything for me.

I felt shivers run down my back as my father stalked towards me. He had a sinister look in his eye that made me fear him even more.

“The Prince only wanted you because you are more beautiful than your sister,” The monster grabbed my braid and pulled me up to my knees, “If I make you less beautiful than the Prince won’t want anything to do with you.” 

With that said, he pulled the sword at his hip out of the sheath. I didn’t realize what he was trying to do. I thought he was trying to kill me, so I tried as hard as I could to get away from him. I only made it easier to do the job he had in mind. With a swing of his sword, he cut my braid clean off. It now hung in a jagged line at the top of my neck. I fell to the floor in shock. However, the monster wasn’t finished yet. He swung his sword again, aiming for my cheek. I was scared, so I moved my head, and his sword nicked my eye instead. 

I screamed out in pain and clutched at my eye. The blood started to flow, and I could tell the cut went from below my cheekbone to a little above my eyebrow. I was sure at that moment that I would never be able to see from that eye again. 

“How cruel can you be, father?” I kicked my legs out and hit him in the shin, “I have done nothing to you, and now you have blinded me. You are a monster in a man’s body.”

“Don’t talk to me, you b***h. You had this coming. Now get cleaned up. I don’t want to see any blood at dinner tonight. It will ruin my food.” The monster left my room but left the door wide open, showing the whole world the mess he had made me.
