Chapter Two

"Were is your parents?" Raymond ask. "Ehmm, they are..." Angelina looked around the large hall filled with influential people of different neighborhoods from Manhattan community in New York City most from East midtown and catch a glimpse of her parents talking with some people "over there" Raymond followed her finger and sight Mr and Mrs Miller not so far from him
Raymond walk over and greet them. They were so happy to meet him beside he will be their son in law very soon and they are so happy that Angelina made the right decision
Raymond Thompson is the only son and heir to the Thompson's Enterprise. A very rich and influential family and coincidentally, when Angelina brought Raymond home as the man whom she is dating. Her parents were so happy after learning of Raymond's family
He happened to be the son of Mr Mark Miller's old friend. Their children reunited them once again. They couldn't wait to get their children married and strengthen their bond so as their business so this marriage is of great importance to them
They fixed the wedding to take place next month and now, it is just few weeks apart. Angelina is so happy about her marriage as she is so much in love with Raymond if not crazily in love with him and not sitting to think if Raymond loves her as much as she does love him
She met him at college in her first year while Raymond was in his final year and slowly their misunderstanding turned into love as they didn't start off with being good friends. They have been in a relationship for the past three years and was so happy when their parents accepted their relationship because at first, they were scared to tell them and now, they will get married soon... Angelina just can't wait for that day, she has been dreaming about it since the day the wedding was announced
After Raymond has exchange pleasantries with his soon to be in law, he moved over to his wife to be who is waiting eagerly for him.
Evelyn on the other hand saw her daughter trying to get herself drunk, she wonders when her daughter will drop that bad habit of hers
She walk over to her and take the glass of wine before it could reach her lips. Amelia frown and turn to rebuke whosoever it is that interrupted her but swallow every bit of the nasty words she was about spewing
She just calmly said "Mum, give me back my glass. I want to forget it all"
Evelyn squeeze her face in disappointment but Amelia cares less. "Amelia not here, you got to have some dignity. Don't drink, just take a look at your sister and what are you even trying to forget. Today supposed to be a happy day for you. All the important board members are here,I can't risk them seeing you this wasted"
Amelia ignored her mother's words and look at the direction of Angelina and Raymond together. She just stare briefly at them and threw her face away. "I've already looked at my sister mum, just give me back my glass"
Evelyn shock her head in much disappointment and said "You was appointed as the assistant chief marketing manager but don't think that's because of your proficiency... Your father did his best to make it happen. We are so proud of you Amelia, yes we are but also we are scared of your future because you cares less about it
Everyone knows that you are intelligent and smart but you are too lazy to put it at work, how will you do so... When you are either drinking, clubbing or wasting with your friends"
"Despite all that I still have my dignity, I still have my pride as a woman. I am simply enjoying my life, am not doing anything bad!" Amelia kind of gravel
"We are not talking about your pride Amelia, I and your father are both proud of you and your sister. You both haven't tarnished our family's reputation, especially at Church but still I want you to change Amelia because you drinks too much. Can you please learn from your sister for once"
"I only drink to be happy. I love my sister but I shouldn't always learn from her. She is always the righteous one, isn't she.... She pause and glance at her sister. "You can have the drink mother, I will just use the restroom" with this being said, she dashed towards the restroom but her eyes caught with a brown skin girl at a corner before going further
At the other end, Angelina was still in her exciting moment with the love of her life. A lady pass through and give her a red wine she has ordered. The lady brought an alcoholic drink a while ago but she rejected it and ask her to get a glass of red wine
"Thank you" she mumble and take the glass of wine
"You are so good to people" Raymond said. Angelina just smile shyly. "But you are never good to me" Angelina quickly glance up at him with confusion written all over her face, she just furrowed
"I've always wanted to get laid with you Angelina but you wouldn't allow me"
Angelina sigh and look straight into his eyes " Raymond, have you forgotten. I told you already, why are you still adamant about that issue. We've talked about it and also the reason I shouldn't... I mean we shouldn't" she study his moody expression and chuckle
"Come on my love, we just have few weeks and we will get laid all our lives. I love you and my body and soul belongs to you only" she kiss his lips gently. Then Raymond received a call, he excused himself to take it since it seems important
Angelina just breath out and take a sip from her wine. She loves the taste and without wasting time she finished the whole content and quickly give it to a waiter walking pass her
After a while Raymond joined her but he noticed something different about her posture, she doesn't looks stable or at her right senses
"I want to sing for everyone" Raymond was thrown back by what she said. She doesn't even know how to sing, why is she offering to do so but before he finished contemplating, Angelina has staggers towards the podium, Raymond tried calling her back but she has gone far
She grabbed the microphone once she reached the stage and speaking with it, she draw so much attention to herself
"Good evening everyone, my name is Angelina Miller, the Chief marketing manager of M&R Enterprise. I want to entertain you all with a lovely song" she hollers
And there started murmur, people are wondering what is wrong with the CEOs daughter
"What is Angelina doing up there?" Mark ask his wife
"I don't know, she looks drunk"
"How is that possible, Angelina never drinks alcohol" Mark defended and Evelyn just shrugged, not knowing what to say. Meanwhile at a distance, someone is smiling victoriously at the scene being presented in front of everyone
Just then Angelina started singing and surprisingly, her voice was so cool and sweet. Everyone enjoyed her singing as they all feel relaxed listening to her but someone among them wasn't pleased with this at all, something else is expected of Angelina and not this
Everyone was amazed with her beautiful and smooth voice, even Raymond and her parents, also her sister. They never knew she can sing so good like this
Her beautiful voice put a lot of enthusiasm in the environment and lots of people feels like they just started enjoying the night since they arrived despite the bountiful entertainment presented before them
After singing, everyone started clapping for her including her parents and boyfriend. They were also cheering for her
"She is not just intelligent and smart, she is also a good singer" a lady said to the hearing of someone who didn't enjoy the show at all but was filled with anger and jealousy
"Among the two daughters of the Millers, I think Angelina is the best. She looks so responsible" another lady chimp in
"But I think Amelia is good also, just in her own way" a black lady among them add
"Either way, I like Angelina more than Amelia" the second lady chip in
Everyone attention was still on Angelina who is on the stage as they were praising her but suddenly she started acting off. Something seems strange, she is no longer acting as Angelina Miller they all know
