Chapter Twenty.
Uki’s heart felt as if it was going to break as she looked at the desperate faces of some of the human women. She moved up beside one, determined to find out the answer to the one question that was playing over in her mind.
“Did you choose to be here?” she gently asked a girl who looked half out of her wits with fear.
“No, I was walking from the store, I was getting my granny some milk because she had ran out and finds it difficult to walk with her hip. I just got out of the door when someone snatched me. I would never choose the auctions. I know some do, and that is up to them, but I didn’t,” she said, silent tears falling down the human girl’s cheeks.
