Chapter Two

1736 Words
I get out of the car with Sebastian walking to my side. I can feel students staring at me.   "Ready Miss?" Sebastian asks.   I nod at him and he goes to the trunk of the car and gets my two pieces of luggage. I grab one and he holds the other one and we head up the small stairs to the huge double doors. I'm guessing we don't have to knock so I open them.   I am met with a big foyer that has what looks like common rooms to each side with sofas and coffee tables. At the end of the room, there's an arched entryway that leads deeper into the mansion into a hall with doors on both sides of the walls. On each side of the entryway, there are stairs that lead up and connect in the middle on top of the entryway and they head up in opposite directions. One to the right and one to the left.   I look around not knowing where we are supposed to head to. There are a bunch of students sitting in the common rooms staring at me and Sebastian. I see a girl with bright blue eyes but she has no pupils and another guy that has silver eyes and I don't mean just the color, they are shiny like liquid silver.   Sebastian leans over to me. "What kind of school is this again?" He whispers in my ear.   I look at him panicking not knowing what I'm going to say to him and he laughs.   "I'm just messing with you little Miss, your grandmother filled me in." I smile relieved that I don't have to explain it to him.   "Ah! You must be Victoria Winters, I have been waiting for you!" An older gentleman says walking towards us. "I am the headmaster Harold Randall."  "Sebastian Whidbey." Sebastian says shaking the headmaster's hand.   I give him a smile and shake his hand as well. He leads us in the direction of the office. We sit and I look around. It's filled with books and it's very clean, everything has its place.  "I am very sorry for your loss." That is the first thing he says.  "Thank you." I say.  "I knew your grandmother a long time ago, we have always been good friends. When she called me last week out of the blue, she took me by surprise. She explained to me the situation and made the arrangements for your stay here."  A knock comes from the door and a girl pops her head in.   "Grandfather?" A girl with olive skin, wavy brown hair to her shoulders, and olive-green eyes comes in.   "Yes Marina, come in." He says. She smiles at us.  This is Marina, she is my granddaughter and she will be your roommate. I made it so you both will have almost all of your classes together. Marina actually started here the previous semester."  Marina smiles at me. "Okay old pops you don't need to bore the poor girl, I'll take it from here."  "Ahc!! Who are you calling old!" He says playfully to her. She giggles and motions me to go with her.   "Very well, here is your itinerary and if she gives you any trouble, let me know. And Victoria, welcome to The Waver Academy." He says with a smile.  I give him a smile. "Thank you."  Sebastian and I get up and follow Marina.   "I'll take you to our room first so you can put your luggage away." She says leading us to the stairs.  "Left is the girl's dormitories and the right it's the boys." She says wiggling her eyebrows. I can't help it and starts laughing. She smiles and Sebastian clears his throat.   She comes closer and whispers to me. "Is that your dad?"  I laugh. "No, he's a family friend, more like an uncle to me and he is also my driver."  "Oh! Good cause I thought I had just put my foot in my mouth." She says with a wide smile.  She leads us through a hall and the rooms have numbers on them. We stop at room 028 and she opens the door. The room is pretty big, it has two full-size beds on each side and a door that leads to a bathroom in between. There's a window on the right side of the room. On the opposite side of the beds, there's an armoire on each side.  "I have the right side, I hope you don't mind." She says sitting on her bed. I shake my head letting her know that I don't mind and look through the window.  "This place is huge." I say amazed.  Sebastian steps forward. "Miss, I'll be leaving now." I look back at him and now I feel sad. I nod and hug him. "I'm sure you'll do well here Miss." He says hugging me back.  "I'm going to miss you." I tell him with tears threatening to come out.  He smiles. "I will too." He pats my head and leaves the room. I feel very alone right now. Silence fills the room.   Marina gets up and pats me on the back. "Come on, I know what you need right now."  She grabs my hand and leads me out of the room and down the stairs. We go through the arched hallway in the common room all the way to the back where double doors open up to a cafeteria room. She leads me to a table where three lunch ladies are serving food. She grabs a plate and starts putting all kinds of sweet stuff from chocolate cakes to small cups with strawberry frappes.   "Holy crap! I have never seen so many delicious foods together." I say.  Marina smiles and leads me to a table where we sit.   "Which one is your favorite?" She asks looking at the huge plate with a sparkle in her eyes.   "Anything chocolate." I say. She hands me the chocolate cake and when I take a bite, I feel like I'm in heaven.  "So, where are you from?" She asks smiling with her mouth covered in frosting and I can't help but laugh.   "A small town in Massachusetts." I say.  "Cool, you're a witch, right?" She asks.  "Yes." I say without hesitating.  She nods. "And you? What are you I mean."   She smiles. "Human."   I almost choke on my cake. "What? There are humans in this school?"   "Yep, but just me." She smiles.  "Oh, okay. I wasn't expecting that.... not that I have problems with humans I mean I used to go to an all-human school-"She starts laughing at my panic rant.  "It's okay, I honestly don't care. I mean I'm a rare jewel here." She burst out laughing at her not so funny joke.  The cafeteria starts getting more crowded which makes sense, it is almost dinner time. I take glimpses around while Marina stuffs her face with more cake.   ("Jesus! I have never seen so many good-looking guys at once in my life. I'm not here for that but I can still look, right?")   At one table there are some pale-looking guys but their complexion is flawless and they are gorgeous.  "Vamps." Marina says looking at me.   "Those are the vampires and over there are where the stuck-up witches sit, I don't mean all of them just some of them of course. Ooh and over there-" She points at a table behind me, I turn around and I panic when I see all the guys from that table looking at us.   ("THEY! ARE! HOT!!")   I quickly turn back around embarrassed and Marina starts laughing. I'm pretty sure she did it on purpose.  "Those are the werewolves, well some of them, there's like three to four different packs here and they are basically the kings and queens of the school."  I look at her wide-eyed." They are hot!"  She giggles with a mischievous smile. "You know they can hear you, right?"  I gasp cupping my mouth with my hand. "NO! What?!"  She laughs. "They basically have super hearing."  I groan. "Great, my first day and I've already made a fool of myself.  She laughs again. "By the way, you have really pretty eyes." She says leaning in closer. "You sure you're a witch?"   I panic. "YES! Yea, I am....of course." I laugh nervously.   "Ok, well anyways you'll mainly just see the main three races, vampires, witches, and werewolves. There are also some sirens and other different ones here and there." I nod.   I take my itinerary out and start looking through it. I see some normal classes like math, history, and science but there is one that says "Super-naturals'' and another one that says "Spells and potions". I look at Marina and point at the classes.  "Oh yea, Super-naturals is one class that is required in this school, and Spells and Potions is because you're a witch.  ("Oh great! I didn't know I would actually have to do spells for a class.") I sigh.   Marina looks behind me and then looks at me oddly. She looks behind me again and then back at me.   "What?" I say panicking.  "You're new so obviously they are all interested in you right now but It's just odd though."  "What is?" I ask.  "Luke Colman. He's one of the Alphas at the school and he doesn't stop staring at you."  I want to turn around but I'm not going to. "Wait... you said they can hear us.....stop talking about them!" I say panicking.  She starts laughing. "You asked."  I squint my eyes at her and shake my head and she just laughs again.  When Marina finally finishes her cakes, we get up and walk out of the cafeteria and I don't even dare to look at this Luke guy. She shows me around a bit and then we head back upstairs. When we get to our room, there are uniforms on my bed.   ("I'm gonna have to wear this starting tomorrow, they look kind of cute.")   I hang them on the armoire. I am tired, it's been a long day and all I want to do is go to sleep but I have to unpack, get my bed ready and take a shower. After finally all is done, I jump on my bed, I look at Marina's bed and she's already asleep. I take a deep breath and close my eyes. Sleep takes me immediately.
