Chapter 3

We went home not long after that. Audri went to ask for my number so I could tour her on her first day of school. Now it’s Monday and I’m going to pick her up. I have my own car, I had to convince my parents a lot of times to allow me to drive alone, they were too worried I’ll drunk drive or something. Though I’ve never done that, I have friends who bring me home.

Kelvin, my classmate texted me the details for tonight’s party. He was my suitor before but he became too clingy and I lost interest, this is why I don’t date men at my age. They feel like they have the authority when it comes to me. I’m not going to be a slave for someone. I know that for sure.

I settled with a white Gucci top and a high waisted ripped pants. We don’t wear uniforms at school, and if I get dress coded, my parents wouldn’t even care. I drove at the place where Audri told me, I offered to pick her up so we don’t have to wait for each other. Brenda and Ali used to go to school with me but I told them to go first because of this.

I stopped at the big mansion of Monteverde, they are really loaded. It looks like an ancient home with modern touch in it. I like the exterior design, it looks expensive. I texted her that I was outside and not long after, I saw her hurriedly running outside. 

“I-I’m sorry, my brother won’t wake up” she said while catching her breath. 

“Who?” 

“Troy! It’s his first day too but he’s being too stubborn” she stressfully said while sitting on my passenger seat.

“I thought he’s older than us?” I curiously asked. He looked matured so I assumed that he was older.

“He’s actually my twin, he was older than me for like a minute?” she said while looking around my car. 

“Wow, your car looks great” she said while having the same surprised face she gave me when we first met. 

“I got it for my 18th birthday” I smiled in response. 

“Lucky! My brothers don’t want me to drive, I’m also 18 like Troy but thye would’nt allow me” she said, sulking.

I smiled while looking at her again. She looks younger than me, actually. There she goes with her rimmed glasses again but now she was wearing a jumpsuit with neon green top. I scrunched my nose when I saw her neon top. She looks blinding in the sun, literally.

“Is my outfit that bad?” she sadly said and I suddenly felt bad.

“No no, I just hope you chose a lighter color for the top” I said slowly, not wanting to hurt her with my words.

“Troy and Greg used to tease me too. But I like comfy clothes” she told me while pouting again. I smiled and gave her a thumbs up. She can wear whatever she wants, I shouldn’t have said that.

We went straight to school after that, I pointed at the important places like cafeteria, clinic and other rooms so she’ll know where to go if she got lost somewhere. When were about to go to our class since we’re classmates, the shy guy from before went up to me, again.

“Hi Tati” he beamed. I was amused that he wasn’t stuttering anymore.

“Hey” I simply replied. He glanced at Audri and he gave me a look again. Can I talk to you for a sec?” he asked. 

I glanced at Audri who was looking at the guy too.

“You can tell me here” I insisted, I don’t want Aubri to feel left out.

“Can I -uh get your number now?” he asked.

“I told you, ask Brenda” I repeated.

“She gave me her number” he scratched his nape.

I sighed and took his phone, I wrote random numbers there and I gave it back to him.

“What’s your name again?” I asked.

“Leandro, see you around.” He smiled again and when he turned to Audri he winked and said, “Nice to meet you” and he went on his way.

When I glanced at the blushing Audri, she blushed more.

“Uhh, you like him?” I asked.

She shook her head repeatedly and said, “ No, no of course not!” she denied rather too abruptly and it looks like she was lying.

“If you say so, let’s go?”
