He started to run back to his car, then saw that the semi was pulling into the church parking lot across the street. Anxiously, afraid it would escape him again somehow, he spun around and ran for the exit out of this parking lot. He heard a car door open behind him. “Hey! Where ya goin’?” Lucky skipped to a stop on the curb, waiting for traffic to pass. Then he took off across the street at a run. The truck had come to a stop facing away from him, angled across the white parking lines in the church lot. As he came up behind the truck, he slowed to a jog and headed for the left side to find the driver. The flatbed was still full of gates, just as before.
