Lloyd woke up with a start, the stiff hospital chair doing little to ease the knots in his muscles. He blinked against the dim light filtering through the blinds, his first instinct to check on Meghan. Meghan was still asleep, her breathing slow and steady, the faintest trace of colour returning to her cheeks. Relief washed over him, though it did little to settle the deep-seated frustration brewing inside him. Kevin was totally to blame. He didn't need to put a hand on her. His presence alone had been enough to send her body into overdrive.
