Tomorrow marks a year since Morgan and Annabelle had gotten married. A year since they had applied for adoption.
Meghan and Lloyd's twins, River and Coralline, had started walking. Business at Carlton Hotels was booming. Lloyd had decided to take over the family business. Meghan, while working for Hemmingway, was also Lloyd's personal assistant.
The Corneal Hospital in Cheshire was becoming very popular, and both Danielle and Marshall had their hands full, but that didn't stop them from finding alone time with each other or family time with the children.
Yes, children, because they had two children. Emilla, a three year old whirlwind, looked juat like her mother and had her mothers vivaciousness. and little Coby only three months old, but already charming and dashing like his father, who was named after their Uncle Chris and Uncle Toby.
It was a Thursday late afternoon, and everyone was busy settling down to enjoying a meal as a family when the phone rang. The voice on the end was soft, so no one could hear the conversation from the other side.
As he spoke, they all sat intently listening. Was it good news? Was it bad news?
"Thank you," Morgan responded, "we'll see you tomorrow." His tone excited as he ended the call.
Grabbing his wife's hand, he said, "Go grab the bottle of wine in the cupboard. We're celebrating." Everyone looked on in confusion.
"Tomorrow," he held up his wine glass, "tomorrow we bring home our little daughter."
Annabelle's knees buckled, but Morgan was there to catch her, holding her close. Her shoulders shook as tears streamed down her face. “The wait is finally over we… we’re parents?”
Morgan’s own tears glistened as he nodded, his forehead pressing against hers. “Yes, kitten, she’s finally ours. When she comes tomorrow, it's for good."
A choked sob escaped Annabelle’s lips, a sound so full of relief and joy that it reverberated through the room, leaving everyone stunned. Then, as if the spell had been broken, excitement erupted.
Camilla and Bradford were the first to leap up, his chair nearly toppling over. “Congratulations," they embraced their son and daughter-in-law.
The room exploded. Cheers, tears, laughter and emotions swirling. Meghan pulled Annabelle into a tight hug, her own eyes glistening. Danielle and Marshall were already planning visits, while River and Coralline clapped their little hands, laughing without understanding why.
Amid the chaos, Morgan raised his glass, his voice cutting through the noise. “To family,” he declared, his gaze moving from his wife to their friends and loved ones. “To love. And to tomorrow… the day, we bring our daughter home.”
"She is going to be spoiled rotten," Meghan announced. "Just know she has two aunties that have girls, and we will do loads of girl days with her."
"She has two uncles with boys, who will dote on her and keep her safe," both Marshall and Lloyd declared.
"And don't forget her grandparents who will spoil her rotten," Bradford said.
"This family has so much love she will lack for nothing with all of us around," Camilla confirmed.
The room grew quiet as the depth of the moment washed over everyone. Camilla sniffled, her hand on Bradford’s arm. “Our little boy is all grown up and starting his own family.”
Bradford’s voice, too, was gruff with emotion. “He’ll be an incredible father, just like his old man.”
Marshall, trying to lighten the mood, cleared his throat. “Well, I think it’s safe to say Emilla’s about to have a new partner-in-crime.”
"Ummm," everyone else said.
"Can you imagine all our kids will be the next generation. They're going to be unstoppable," Meghan laughed.
Lloyd chuckled at his wife's words and said, "More like a handful."
Later that evening, in the confines of their bedroom, Morgan pulled his wife into his arms.
The moment the door to their bedroom clicked shut, his lips were on hers, urgent and demanding. Annabelle melted into him, her fingers curling into his hair, pulling him closer.
As he backed her up against the wall, his body pressed into hers as he kissed her deeper, his hands roaming down her back. She gasped as his lips moved to her neck, his breath hot against her skin. “You have no idea how much I love you,” he murmured, his voice rough and thick with emotion.
Annabelle’s head fell back, a soft moan escaping her lips. “Show me,” she whispered, her fingers sliding beneath his shirt, feeling his muscles tense under her touch.
Her words ignited a passion within him. He lifted her effortlessly, her legs wrapping around his waist as he carried her to the bed. Laying her down, his body covered hers, his mouth claimed hers again with a fierce desire, as his hands explored her curves, igniting a fire wherever he touched.
Annabelle arched her body into him, craving every inch of him. “Morgan…” she breathed, her voice trembling.
His eyes blazed, his control unravelling. “You’ll always be mine, kitten. Always.”
Their clothes fell away, piece by piece, until nothing stood between them. Skin against skin, hearts pounding in sync, they moved together, each touch, each kiss more desperate than the last.
Morgan’s lips traced a path down her body, worshipping every inch of her. Annabelle’s hands gripped his shoulders, her body arching as waves of pleasure crashed over her while calling his name over and over again.
His mouth found hers again, their bodies intertwining, moving in perfect harmony. “I love you,” he whispered, his voice breaking. “You’ve given me everything, Annabelle. And tomorrow… you’re giving me even more.”
Tears filled her eyes, her heart swelling with love. “We’re giving each other everything. We’re a family.”
With that, Morgan captured her lips once more, their souls connecting as they surrendered to each other completely.
In the quiet aftermath of their lovemaking, the lain tangled together beneath the sheets, they knew that tomorrow would be the start of a new chapter, one that they would face together, as parents, as lovers, as soulmates.
The following morning, they were up early and ready to hit the road for London.
Camilla, Bradford, Marshall Meghan, Lloyd, and Danielle were all at the house. The women had gone shopping while men stayed behind to prepare for the new addition.
As they were busy having breakfast, Annabelle raced to the bathroom. Coming out, she looked pale. "Are you okay, kitten?" Morgan asked.
"My stomach feels funny," she responded.
"It's probably nerves," Morgan responded.
Everyone else laughed. They all knew the signs already. "Annabelle, when was your last monthly cycle?" Danielle and Meghan asked.
"Um, about a month ago." Annabelle stopped, realising that she was about two weeks late. "Um, I am about two weeks late."
"There's your answer. You're pregnant." Danielle said.
"Wait, no," the doctors said I wouldn't likely be able to have children.
"Correct, but that didn't mean you couldn't have any children. It just means you will need to take extra care during this one," Marshall and Danielle confirmed.
"We're going to be double parents!" Annabelle screeched in excitement.
"Come down to the hospital. I will do a sonogram and check." Danielle offered their medical services.
