As Karen gazed at her boss's office door, she questioned why Katherine hadn’t emerged yet. “What’s keeping her?” she thought. “I hope she’s not caught up in another huge mess.”
A few moments later, Katherine stepped out of the door, prompting a curious look from Karen, who noticed the annoyed and irritated expression on her face as she muttered to herself.
“So, what happened in there, Kate? I hope you’re not getting fired?” Karen inquired, her tone curious yet anxious.
“No, nothing much, really. He just wanted to know about my resume like he was trying to c***k a code, and you won’t believe it—he didn’t even mention my fabulous late arrival! Not that I’d ever do that again... probably," Katherine said with a perfectly straight face.
“I mean, who's gonna handle these dishes and serve the customers while you are away?" Karen teased with a laugh.
“You crazy, you know that right?” Katherine said with a smile on her face.
“So how did your date with Andrew turn out?” Karen asked with curiosity, “hmm, it actually went nice, nothing much, though,” Katherine responded.
“It's always nothing much with you, silly girl,” Karen remarked jokingly.
Katherine smiled and then asked with interest, “What about you? How's that guy you told me you've been seeing?”
“Oh..you mean Kyle? Well, he's….” But before Karen could finish her sentence, the door opened, and four young men walked in.
In disbelief, Karen nearly let go of her glass of wine as she instantly recognized them.
“OMG, Kate do you have any idea who those guys are?”
looking perplexed at her friend's sudden change in character; She quickly glanced in the direction her friend was staring at, she stared a little bit deeper and then said;
“Ain't those the so-called playboys of San Francisco? What the hell are they doing in a low-class standard place like this?” Katherine whispered, her voice a little bit surprised.
“Well, what do you know? God’s finally answering my fan mail! Let me run and get my phone; I need to capture these heavenly beings,” Karen joked, sprinting for her phone.
“I’ll head over to take their orders," Katherine announced, completely ignoring her friend’s over-the-top reaction.
“C'mon bro, you can't actually compare Billie Eilish with Ariana Grande; she's a goddess, that Billie Eilish and the order is more of a respected servant,” Kai spoke as he argued with Alex.
"What are you talking about, dude? Go finish your homework; Ariana's got more Grammy Awards, a Billboard number one song, and a ton of other achievements compared to Billie," Alex teased with a grin.
“I think Kai’s only mad because Ariana didn't give him a chance on that relationship train of his,” Reymond responded with a chuckle.
“Looks who's talking. When last have you gone out with a girl,” Jason replied Reymond.
“Yeah I'm starting to think he's gay myself,” Kai muttered jokingly.
Just as Reymond was about to respond, a mesmerizing voice floated over from the side.
“Hello, please can I take your order?” Katherine spoke with a voice calm as ever, powerful enough to put Giants to sleep.
They all looked in the direction of the voice. Standing right there, Katherine was like a beauty goddess who came down from heaven to get her hands dirty.
With her apron, long-sleeved shirt, and not-so-expensive-looking pants, she was like a sculpture hidden from the eyes of mere men; her blonde hair was like her secret weapon catching the attention of even the most decent and moral men.
“Well, hello gorgeous, and who may you be?” Kai asked, his smile as charming as ever.
“My name's Katherine, but my friends call me Kate,” Katherine said as she tried holding herself from blushing; although she failed, it was almost impossible for them to notice.
“Well, good thing I'm friend material, Ms. Kate,” Kai responded. But before he could woo her completely out of her head, Jason immediately spoke;
“don't mind, my friend, Kate, we'll be having your best drinks, that's all, thank you.”
As Katherine went to bring in the drinks, Kai spared a suspicious glance at Reymond, “Bro, c'mon, you didn't even look at this hot beauty pie, I think she's your type,” Kai complained.
“You honestly think a girl working at a bar such as this is my type? Figured you don't know me too well,” Reymond remarked with a smirk on his face.
“I don't think that actually matters, you know.” It's just backgrounds dude, definitely not a big deal,” Alex spoke in an assured tone.
“Well, it is for my mom,” Reymond replied with vague traces of remorse.
Jason sighed and then asked, “I heard your parent gonna be hosting a banquet real soon; how true is that?”
“Yeah, it is, but it's going to hold, like, maybe 2 months from now, so y'all have all the time in the world to prepare, Reymond spoke as he put on a tired face.
With a mischievous grin, “He glanced over at Kai, chuckled, and said, “She’s cute, though!” before bursting into laughter.
