"Sophia, Sophia, honey I'm home" Richard called out with tenderness in his voice. The voice Sophia had missed and longed to hear for the past one year.
She rushed out of the kitchen confused and fidgeting she dared not look at Richard's face instead she pinned her eyes to the marble floor of the massive sitting room expecting backlash of words from Richard but was shocked by Richard's kind gestures
"Here I am" she said with fear in her voice
Richard placed his both hands on her shoulders
"Sophia I know I've been a bad husband lately but please give me the chance to make amends, let's just forget all that has happened in the past one year. I want you to please forget the struggles and pain I made you pass through" He was very compassionate and his voice was soothing
"Let's live again as husband and wife, Sophia"
Sophia brushed her hair with her hands stylishly to be sure she wasn't dreaming. She couldn't believe her ears.
"Richard, is this really you?" The words dropped from her mouth and she immediately held her mouth but Richard still didn't react but answered her
"Yes Sophia, I'm the one and this is real, you aren't dreaming" He replied to her as though he was reading her mind.
Sophia now filled with joy, jumped on Richard and hugged him tightly giving him a deep passionate kiss one she hadn't been chanced to get for a very long time.
"I love you honey and I'm promising you I'll get pregnant soon," She told Richard giving him a delightful smile
"Yes Sophia, I believe you'll give me a child soon and I can't wait to celebrate that" He said sarcastically but Sophia was too overjoyed to notice. Richard was pleased the plan is flowing accordingly as planned
"Sophia guess what"
"You know I'm not good at guessing things, just tell me what it is" Sophia said locking her eyes with Richards' and smiling lightly
"For the celebration of our reunion, I'll throw a huge birthday party in one of the best hotels in this city for you, The Thompson's Hotel!" Richard said with an expression of excitement.
Sophia gaps
"Oh my God. You'll be celebrating my birthday in The Thompson's hotel?" Sophia asked with disbelief
"Yes, Sophia, don't be surprised. I want to make up for the year I've been a bad husband" He replied moving towards the stairs that lead to his bedroom
"I'm going to take my shower" He said as he continued going up the stairs humming a tune of satisfaction.
"You're the best husband in the world. I love you, Richard!" Sophia exclaimed, still trying to digest what had just happened in the last twenty minutes, it's like the best minutes she had ever experienced in her whole life.

(Phone rings)
"Hello Marie"
"Hey, Sophia, what's up"
"I'm cool, I'm good. What about you, how're you doing?"
"I'm just cool and kind of feeling bored here"
"Well then, let me tell you some exciting news"
Marie sits up on her bed, interested and wondering what Sophia wants to say
"C'mon, I'm all ears girl"
"First let me apologize for not telling you this earlier. The life I'm living presently didn't make me remember to tell you about this" she said laughing.
Marie who's curious to hear what happened replied
"You're all cheerful, give me the gist I can't wait girl"
"Okay. Here's it, Richard has changed! He has turned to the man I married, he no longer threatens me, speaks angrily, bullies me, and says hateful speeches" Sophia said all in one breath pausing to catch her breath.
"Wow. You didn't tell me this all this while, now I'm annoyed" she said pretending as if she did not know what was going on
"I already begged you, Marie. Don't be annoyed friend" she said in a sincere manner
"I'm not annoyed. I'm really happy for you, so how did it happen?" She asked cunningly to see how unsuspecting Sophia was
"It was just like a miracle". She said the words between laughs.
"He just came home that evening, I was even surprised he came home as early as that, then he started begging me and saying he's sorry for all he has done and for being a bad husband, I thought I was dreaming but even I was shocked I wasn't"
"For the past three weeks now Richard has been a completely changed man, he makes me happy every time and he's even the one that consoles me for my childlessness" She explained everything to Marie, excited as she told her.
"Woah I'm so happy for you, I'm happy your marriage is back to normalcy" she said excitedly to deceive Sophia
"Here's the best part Marie…"
Marie's cuts her
"There's a best part?" She asked just to make the conversation feel natural because she knew exactly what Sophia was about to say
"Yes!" She shouted with joy
"Richard is throwing up a birthday party for me next week in The Thompson's hotel. The biggest, newest, and most luxurious hotel in town presently. I'm so happy"
"Yay, this is good news are you busy now? So you can come over we need to celebrate this and go shopping for the big party" She said overwhelmed with joy knowing she wanted to celebrate with Sophia her last birthday in the house of Richard
"I'm just arranging a few things but I'm coming right away" Sophia said as she hastens to go meet her friend.

"Mom I'm really tired to have this conversation tonight, can't it wait till tomorrow morning" A muscular man with a gentleman's face and strong jawline with grey eyes about 35 years of age said with a frown whilst holding a cup of water
"No, it can't because I have to speak sense into you. It's over five years since your father died and you've been managing his business since then but you don't have a wife, doesn't it look absurd to you?" Yelled a woman in her 60s. She has a wrinkled but smart face, and grey eyes and speaks with authority anytime she opens her mouth to speak.
"You know I'm not interested in these girls they're all after my money and I can't leave Dad's business chasing bitches" Jack yelled back
Mrs. Turner laughs surprised by Jack's arrogance and suddenly gives him a sinister look
"Anytime I'm talking you keep shut and listen to me you nincompoop always thinking he doing the right thing full of arrogance, and always acting like a dickhead" She spat boiling with anger on how stupid Jack can be sometimes always giving excuses thinking he always the "Mr. Right Person"
Jack was shocked by how his mother spoke to him about an issue he did not see as important. He gulped the water he was holding in his hand smashed the classy glass cup on the table and walked up to his mother standing above her casting a shadow of his muscular physique in her eyes.
"How can you be saying these things to me when you know I almost have no time and I'm always busy watching over Dad's legacy making sure the name Turner remains the greatest name and company in the whole of America, Europe, Asia everywhere in the world while you sit here doing nothing just commanding and bringing up trivial issues and making them look like they're important. Come on Mom this isn't right" He said breathing heavily and hardening his face with resentment
Mrs. Turner grabbed Jack's blue coat and looked at him in the eyes
"Never in your life talk to me like that Jack else…"
"Else what?" Jack interrupted her sharply not taking his eyes from his mother's.
