Chapter 17

I gripped tightly one of the straps of my bag before I headed towards Jonathan's group who were waiting at the deepest forest and just within the boundary of our pack, while Khaleed is following behind me, looking so dashing and arrogant with his hands in his pocket. All my wounds have healed, thanks to the ointment he gave.

He's even humming while following me. My nerves almost bulged at how confident and arrogant he is but I cannot deny the fact that his presence gave me confidence and assurance that he will handle things perfectly and won't let me get a scratch. It was how he did back then when I got into a fight with the girls, never once did he let me suffer in his presence.

We didn't talk the whole time he was following me, I just know that he's eyeing me from behind. We reached the location of Jonathan's gang and when Jonathan's eyes met mine and his eyes darted towards the person following me behind, his body stiffened, eyes wide and mouth gaped, surprised and speechless at how I was able to bring Khaleed to the meet up.

Cassandra, Samantha and the other girls dropped their cigarettes accidentally while gaping at Khaleed, admiration and desire were written on their eyes. I knew right from the start that these girls are aiming for guys who are powerful and have legitimate positions to well known packs. And Khaleed, aside from being hot and handsome, is a third in command in a famous pack. Who wouldn't grab the opportunity to be with him?

Michael was caught in a surprise but he just chuckled at it, "Look at how capable you are. You were actually able to bring the one and only Khaleed here!" His laugh is laced with sarcasm as he eyed me then to Khaleed from head to toe, with his hands in his pocket. Khaleed took a few steps forward, hiding me with his huge built. I felt assured when I watched his strong back and huge pecks hiding me, like a sturdy wall that no one can destroy. I felt warmth within me that I've never felt before meeting Khaleed.

Michael gritted his teeth as he inched closer to Khaleed, wanting to punch him. He still couldn't forget the beating he got from him The two came face to face however, Khaleed is several times taller than Michael. The latter only reached his chest and Michael felt intimidated but his surging anger clouded his judgement.

Khaleed just chuckled at his words and didn't bother to respond. instead, he glanced at Jonathan meaningfully, "You sure this is the one you want to be the Beta? He's acting more like an Alpha rather than you."

With just a few words, he was able to shake the future hierarchy of our pack. My mouth gaped at how surprised I was. Woah. Way to strike while the furnace is hot.

Jonathan laughs it off but I know that he's getting pissed off with the way his face darkened at Khaleed's words. He didn't participate in beating me up and he wasn't there when Michael ordered me to bring Khaleed. He must have been pissed off at Michael for ordering people around without his permission and surprised that I was actually able to bring Khaleed to them. Jonathan just dismissed Khaleed's words as a mere joke as a way to defend his position as the future Alpha and his friends' behavior, "What do you mean, Khaleed? My people are just joking around. They didn't actually mean to order Jaiyana to bring you here."

I couldn't believe he actually said that. So they just used the reason that if I wasn't able to bring Khaleed, they're going to kill me? They actually intended to eliminate me, since they expected that I won't be able to bring Khaleed since Khaleed and I have no relations and didn't even know each other.

My throat dried up. I know people can hate for whatever reason they have but to the extent of eliminating the victim just because they want to is too much.

Khaleed's eyes have a sharp glint but his lips curved up in a smile, "No wonder your pack is still on the bottom of the hierarchy. Aside from having no accountability, you have no control over your pack members."

Way to poke at a fresh wound. The hierarchy of werewolves pack has just come out and Khaleed showed the list to me yesterday while he's kissing me on my cheek and to my forehead. He didn't go further since we are still too young and he needs to control himself. We're not mated yet. He says he will do things with me once we become mates and once he marries me.

Jonathan's eyes became sharp and the smile disappeared however before he could refute Khaleed's words, Khaleed eyed the girls around Jonathan and his gang, "These are the girls you're hanging out with?"

My heart thumped with his words, did he come to like someone among Samantha and the others? They are the ones who beat me up? Is he going to replace me with them? I looked at Khaleed's back anxiously and pulled his shirt. My chest tightened at the thought of him being with another girl, my hands felt cold and my face paled.

I eyed the girls and Samantha, Cassandra and the other girls blushed and giggled just by being noticed by Khaleed, they're like worms wiggling. Oh how I would love to pour salt on them. It feels like I swallowed a huge jar of vinegar and my grip on his shirt tightened. Khaleed eyed me from behind and glanced at the girls and clicked his tongue.

"What a downgrade." He said coldly while staring at the girls. I almost choked on my saliva when he said that. The pain suddenly was washed out and relief came over me. I almost laughed when I realized that I am indeed special to him.

The girls' faces paled at his words, gone are the blushing and giggling. I almost laughed at their reaction but I remain hidden behind Khaleed as not to get attention to me. It was instructed by Khaleed for me to hide behind his back. He said that he's a man and he will take care of it. He just needs me to bring him to them and he will take care of the rest. It's really convenient to date a guy who's actually a 'man enough to do the duties of a man.' compared to guys who just want to play games all day.

Michael scoffed at Khaleed, "You call the girls here downgraded when you're summoned by an Omega?" His nerves bulged in annoyance. I knew that something was off with Michael, he's probably dating Cassandra since I saw them kissing each other a week ago.
