Chapter Thirteen
Later, much later, Lindsey tossed in the bed, the sheets knotted around her thighs. She flipped, side to side, but sleep eluded her and a throbbing pain seemed to have settled at the base of her skull. She had been at the plantation for barely a day and during that short time, disturbing thoughts were kaleidoscoping through her brain: the seemingly dead-headed Toussaint who defied his Overseer; the empty-eyed Wauchi who suddenly appeared in her shower to enjoy a prolonged look at her body, without any healthy male reaction; the beautiful Macaya, presumably a Mumbo... a priestess of the Voodoo religion; and finally, Muriel who claimed to have been violated by the spirit of her long deceased grandfather.
