I walked through the woods, the freezing air biting into my skin. I shivered as I looked down. Confused, I wondered why I was only wearing a T-shirt and nothing else when it was so cold outside. I could already hear Mom asking me where my jacket was. "What are you thinking going out like that?" she would holler at me. She was right, of course. Mom was always right. I moved through the woods, and the howling of a wolf sliced through the air, stopping me in my tracks. I looked around, but I didn't see anything. Thoughts of being ripped apart and left for dead flashed inside my head. Did wolves leave people for dead? Or did they just eat them? I kept moving forward, trying to find my way out of the forest.
