Nica did not know what to say, so she simply smiled and said, “The food looks delicious.”

Jordan nodded. “You can start eating.”

During dinner, they chatted about different things and shared light conversation. Then Jordan suddenly paused and stared at her for a long moment before speaking.

“I meant what I said earlier,” he said softly. “You are mine alone. I do not think I can let any man come near you. But I will give you all the time you need to heal from what happened with your boyfriend. And whenever you are ready to make our relationship public... even if it began as only a contract.”

Nica did not know how to respond, but deep inside, she knew she was beginning to fall for him. Still, she kept reminding herself that this was wrong. He was her ex-boyfriend’s uncle.

She simply nodded, stood up, and thanked him for dinner before returning to her room.

Once inside, she could not sleep. Her mind was restless, filled with too many thoughts.

Unable to rest, she stepped out of her room for fresh air.

The moment she did, she froze.

Standing before her was Jordan, tall, fair, and incredibly handsome. He wore only his night trousers, with no shirt on.

She was so lost in thought that she did not hear him speak.

“Do you need anything?” Jordan asked.

“I asked if you need anything.”

Inside, her thoughts were in chaos.

Soon, they were both seated on the couch.

Jordan leaned closer. “What is bothering you? What are you worried about?”

“Are you sure?” he asked gently. “You can always tell me when you are ready.”

Jordan leaned even closer. Nica closed her eyes, expecting something to happen. Just as she was about to speak, he reached behind her and grabbed the remote control.

He raised an eyebrow. “Too early for what?”

Nica’s face burned with embarrassment.

“Nothing,” she said quickly.

Meanwhile, Chris arrived home drunk, and Ella welcomed him. She had her own plans and was determined not to lose him to Nica. She helped him to the bedroom, remove his tie kissed his forehead, eyes, nose, neck then caressing his lips before kissing it. Back at Jordan’s house, Jordan woke up to find Nica still asleep beside him.

At some point during the night, they had both fallen asleep on the couch, with Nica resting her head on his chest.

Jordan did not want to wake her. Instead, he quietly watched her sleep and gently moved the hair away from her face.

As soon as he touched her hair, Nica woke up.

Trying to hide his feelings, Jordan quickly said, “Your head is heavy.”

Nica immediately sat upright. “I am sorry.”

She rushed back to her room in embarrassment.

How did I fall asleep on his chest? she thought. But... he felt so warm.

Then she quickly shook her head.

Nica, be quiet.

She went to shower, but just as she came out naked, a loud noise came from outside her room.

Nica rushed out without thinking.

“What could that be?”
