Abena and Kwesi had decided to close their half way eaten ice cream and enjoy the rest on their drive home. They had taken all they wanted and were on their way to make the necessary payment before Uncle Offei would come and scold them for wasting time. The two siblings decided to speed up. But as they moved on for some few meters, the two guys with furious faces interjected them abruptly. Abena looked on stunned so did Kwesi. Abena recognized them. Kwesi stood shaking his head. He was expecting her sister to do something.
The guys were not talking. They were just closing in on them. “Hi…. we are late so we have to go?” Abena said, mustering a string of courage.
“And where do you think you are going…you Dada Bee—children from an opulent home. Do you remember us? Last time, you disgraced us at the small shop down the road there.” The older of the two guys said. Abena stood there trembling. Kwesi was still quite watching what will happen.
“All you know is school. Car and money. You care only about yourself alone. You care about no anyone one else.” The older one said. His English was not all that good, but Abena could not laugh.
Abena shuddered a little with that. She then gave the ice cream to Kwesi to hold. “What are you talking about? You mean we are selfish people?” Abena inquired.
“Is it because of the last time incident?” Abena snapped getting livid. “Qui…Qui…qui…be quite. You talk too much. Too much English...” The older g**g member snapped.
“You know you disgrace us the last time. They called us thieves, and you run away.” He added. Abena stood there reeling from that past experience.
“So what do you want from us now?” Abena inquired. The older g**g member squeezed his face.
“You have to suffer for what you did, together with your brother.” Abena looked on stunned by that. He then mustered some string of courage and blurted out. “No…way…you are the one who deserves to be punished. The older g**g member became livid and beckoned his colleague to move closer. Abena and Kwesi were still standing in the path that led to the counter, but seemed had been shielded by the two g**g boys.
The guys closed in. The elder one quickly signaled the younger one to forcefully take the ice cream from Kwesi. The younger one quickly launched an attack to take the ice creams. Kwesi not expecting that, decided to hold on to the Ice cream. A struggle ensued, and in the end, the three-ice creams were spluttered on the floor. Abena tried to help but she could not. Upon seeing what had just happened.
Abena gnashed her teeth with anger. The younger one who had accomplished the feat laughed. Kwesi looked on almost in tears. Abena could not believe her eyes. The ice creams were now sputtered on the floor. They could not eat it any longer.
“What have you done?” Abena bellowed. “You can buy a new one. You are rich children. Dada Bee.” The older on added fuel to the fire
Chop for the ground now make I see.” The younger g**g boy teased.
Abena was fuming with so much anger now. “We do see you every day. You dey car in. Every morning carry you for school every day. Every time you they go outside that your nice house, you dey use car. You rich people be very greedy. You never dey care about the poor man.” The younger one added.
“Are you listening to yourself? We drive in a car to school every day so you just have to spill our Ice cream on the floor?” Abena furiously inquired.
“It no be true? You not dey drive for car in ever blessed day?” The younger one said. Abena now furious beckoned Kwesi to wait for her, as she decided to move away to call for help – to inform the shop attendant or call Uncle Offei.
Abena moved closer to the guys as she tried to move away beside the guys. But as she came closer to them, they both held her by the hands. Abena struggled valiantly to free herself bellowing, “Leave me alone.”
But they were still forcing her to stand, “Where do you think you are going?” The older one said still impeding Abena.
“Every day we they see you for the town, we they call you and you not the mind us like we be human beings. Now we go see who go save you.” The older one said still holding unto Abena.
“I said leaving me alone.” Abena bellowed again, almost in tears.
With that, Yaw entered the market and also moved straight to the place he knew the ice creams are stationed. But when he got there, his siblings where not there. Then from somewhere he heard the sound of someone scream. The person was struggling to do something – like in trouble. Yaw quickly followed were the sound was coming from. He moved closer. And that was when he realized the scream was familiar. The screams were that of Abena. Anger quickly took hold of his legs and he bolted as fast as he could ever think.
-------
The struggle was ugly and defiant. The two g**g boys had really become the demons that had decided to torment Abena and her sibling that afternoon. With a last struggle to free herself, Abena shouted and involuntarily, “L e a v e m e a l o n e .”
Then instantaneously Abena scream was accompanied by supersonic sound waves from her mouth that moved in a horizontal rapid succession quickly hurling the younger g**g member out of the way. The sound waves that emanated from Abena’s mouth moved with great force hitting and crashing items in the store to the ground. That is when the people in the shop got to know that something was not right. Abena looked on surprised at what had just happened. But the same time, she felt relieved. The older g**g member looked on stunned by what had just happened. She is a witch. He thought.
“Witchcraft? What have you done to by brother?” The older g**g member chided. Abena looked on tensed. Kwesi was petrified.
“Me…I do not know.” Abena retorted. All eyes at the supermarket were now turned towards Abena and the g**g boys. In fury, the older g**g member blurted out again, “I will kill you today,” and quickly clutched Abena’s arms as a struggle ensued.
Yaw on the other side was also coming in with full force, he was just in time and had witnesses what her sister had just done. He did not hesitant at all as he invaded the struggle and decided to free her sister from the older g**g member. Yaw intercepted the g**g member and freed Abena. With Abena free, Yaw was now in the grasp of the old g**g member who looked on with full rage now.
“How dare you touch my sister like that?” Yaw muttered though he was being hurled by the neck by the older g**g member. Yaw struggled to free himself but was failing. Abena and Kwesi.
stood away watching the drama unfold. They had been rattled by the whole incident and could not do anything to help their brother. The older aging member raised Yaw up with his right hand. Yaw was now up in the air struggling to breath and the hand of the g**g member pressed his trachea.
“And you are the brother who thinks can save in sister. Do you know what your sister have done?” The g**g member muttered as looked at Yaw still struggling to free himself.
“Please put him down. He begs.” Abena pleaded. Kwesi was almost in tears, his eyes turning red. But the g**g member did not have time for empathy. Yaw’s neck was pressing harder. Then in an attempt to hurl Yaw to the ground, suddenly, a blue energy monochromatic light – exuded from Yaw’s eyes piercing the chest of the old g**g member, sending him sprawling onto the left side to the supermarket, and hitting some items to the ground. Yaw was instantaneously released and he crouched onto the floor.
Abena and Kwesi watched on stunned. What had happened to them today? Then quickly, the female shop attendant came to Abena and her siblings. She was surprised by what had just happened since she knew Abena and her siblings. Abena then narrated what had really happened. Yaw was on his feet now. Kwesi was still rattled by all they had experience today.
After the narration, the shop attendant quickly called in the police and the ambulance for the victims – the two g**g members. Yaw could not open his eyes to see what he had done. He wanted to save her sister and he did not have an idea that what had happened and was going to happen.
Uncle Offei quickly came from nowhere and moved to the siblings now united than ever. Offei saw the ice scream splattered on the floor. And two g**g guys, one with a huge injury to the arm and the other who seemed to be unconscious.
“What happened? Your fifteen minutes is long overdue” Offei inquired. But then the shop attended came in to say that, the police will need a statement about what had happened so the Quansah family had to wait for some time. Offei was not getting that.
“What have you three done?” Koby Offei inquired anxiously. Kwesi was quite. Yaw had also turned his face from Uncle Offei. Abena looked on sad for all that had happened. And all that she could say to calm the throbbing heart of Offei was, “It’s was not our fault.”
“It was not your fault that what?” Offei was still lost. Then quickly the female shop attendant came to Offei. Offei met her with a curious face and inquired,
“Please what has happened here? Why the police and the ambulance? What have my kids done?”
The shop attendant nodded her head and said, “I guess you are in charge of the kids, just follow me. I will explain everything.
