“Don’t.” Jackson stopped Hugh near the doorway. “It isn’t her.”
“What’s going on?” Someone was hurt. It was the only reason to pull Kalper from the party.
Jackson grabbed his arm and led him aside so they wouldn’t be overheard. “There was an issue. Sassy’s hurt.”
“She was supposed to be with Trinity tonight.”
“She was, but Trinity is—”
He pushed past Jackson. He needed to see her.
Jackson followed him into the hallway, grabbing his arm again. “She is fine.” He paused, smiling at a couple who walked past them. “Trust me. I’d tell you if she weren’t.”
“I know.” He’d do the same for Jackson.
“Good.” The Guard let go of his arm. “Stay here. It’ll look suspicious if you leave.”
“I don’t care. I need to see her. Cover for me. I’ll only be gone a minute.”
