No one paid much attention to Jethro as he made his way through the crowd. They were all focused on placing bets and filling up their drinks while they waited for the next fight.
As soon as Vickers saw him, the Guard by his side waved his hand and several other big Guards pushed through the crowd, heading in his direction. He kept walking, ignoring the instinct to find a place near a wall or building—anywhere that he could better defend himself.
This wasn’t a trap. They weren’t preparing to attack. They were going to escort him to the lawyer. He shifted his shoulders, trying to shake away the tension as they circled him and herded him toward Vickers. He’d been heading this way anyway. Nothing was happening that he didn’t want to happen.
