A contract deal

LIARA The prison wall feel suffocating, the damp wall smelling of urine and dirty plates lying around. I sat at one of the cleanest place I could find, my ribs aching, my breathing difficult as I tried to make myself more comfortable. The door buzzled as I saw other cellmates strolling in, their mean faces staring dagger at me, I bow my head to avoid any contact. But I was unluckily because one of them came to me smiling weirdly. “hello liara” she called out. I was shocked, wondered and worry how she knew my name but they didn’t allow me to speak when they started pounding on me. Slaps, punches, blow and kick across my face, feet, back, shoulder, hands. I couldn’t take in so much pains as I turned my back at them protecting my stomach. They were like wild animals. Each blows they made, spread pains in my bodies. Their laughter echoed in my ear as if they were waiting for me. After one fatal hour of the kicks and punches. “Courtesy of Elvery” one of them said before slamming my head hard on the wall I blacked out. The pain was too much I felt dull throbbing all over my body, people speaking loudly, some pressing my hands, checking for life. I stirred, waking up, my vision blurring. When I try to move, a sharp pain shot through my ribcage, I whimpered, curling my fingers to the cold ground. “You are awake” a low voice said I blinked up to see the prison warder standing beside the doctor that was attending to me. The doctor face was blank but with a hint of pity in his eyes “miss liara, the baby is not in a good condition’ the doctor said as he pressed his thumb on my neck. His hands were cold and numb. I smiled softly, my face stained with tears and revenge. He stood up without waiting for my answer and spoke with the female warder and left. She entered the cell looking at me with pity “Elvery paid them to do this” she said gruffly, unlocking the cuffs on them and stepping aside. “you have been moved to a separate cell. They are planning to kill you next time” she added I swallowed hard, my throat dry and hurting. It wasn’t a surprise. I had expected Elvery to make me suffer knowing how well she hated my very gut and being. I was dragged to another cell, this one smaller, isolated and colder. No food has been given to me. No blanket. Just the concrete walls and the sound of rat running happily. I wrap my hands around my stomach. I wasn’t just fighting for myself only—I was fighting for my child, my baby who is growing inside of me, vulnerable and weak. I need to get out to tell him that our love produces a seed. I was jolt awake by the metal door opening with a torch pointed directly on my face. A guard stood in the dimly lit hallway, his shadow stretching long across the ground “You have a visitor” My heart skipped a beat. Lucien? Had he finally remembered me. I scrambled to my feet, my leg trembling beneath me as I followed the guard outside. The hallway was very quiet; the only sound was the soft clicking of chains from the others cells. I stepped into the waiting room, my breath hitched. I would be out from here I saw him He wasn’t Lucien A tall man in a neatly ironed black suit that hugged his body bringing out his well-toned shape, he leans casually against the table, his piercing gray eyes locking onto me, the moment he sat down. His lip curled into a smirk as he tilted his head, observing me like a piece of entertainment. “liara Harris” he said smoothly, his voice laced with amusement. “looking still beautiful despite the worse for wear.” I stiffened, my finger tightened to a fist. “Who are you” He sat straight, arranging his suit properly. Expensive. He moved closer. Removing the mask, he had on him. “Jasper sinner” My breath caught in my throat. Jasper sinner. Lucien’s biggest rival. The man who had tried to bring Lucien down multiple time. My stomach churned. “why are you here” My voice firmer. He chuckled at the way I spoke. “I came to get you out” My heart pounded, hopeful for his word for a brief moment before suspicion settled in. I narrowed my eyes at him, my gaze printed on his face. “why would you help me” He smirks widened. “because I need something from you” He didn’t blink for a second before he said the real agenda. I admire him for that, save me a lot of minutes from telling him No. “what” I swallowed “you will work for me” his voice was oddly clam, there wasn’t the hint of a predator to his prey behind it. “I will get you out, clear your name, destroy the medias that slander you……. but in return, you belong to me.” I clenched my jaw. “NO” His smirk faded. He reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone and with a few taps, turned the screen towards me. The air in my lungs froze. It was a live broadcast. Percy wearing an elegant pink dress, smiling at the cameras while Lucien stood beside her, his expression blank. LUCIEN DENMARK AND PERCY JACKSON ENGAGEMENT HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED! My world crumbled. No. No, this can’t be happening. “Still think Lucien will come for you”, Jasper asked, mockingly. Tears burned my eyes. “No…. This isn’t real. It is a lie.” Jasper leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper. “It is real, sweetheart. He’s gone. The world has forgotten you, if you stay here, you will rot in this prison and lose everything. Including that child, you are carrying.” I flinched. My hand instinctively went to my stomach. He knew Jasper took a step back, watching me with his sharp, all knowing eyes. “you are bruised, freezing and starved. This is just the beginning. If you stay, they will make sure you don’t survive or see the sun again” he emphasized I swallowed the lump in my throat. “you have no one, Liara. No home. No power. No protection.” He stood up, took a slow step towards me, his voice cold. “but I can change that.” I laughed. He doesn’t know me fully well. “I have my family. If my brothers find out that I am in prison, they will make sure that I am out. You have forgotten that I am nepo child, born and raised up. My family has more influence that you think” He laughed, clapping his hands, the sound causing the warder to stand up. “why are they not here” he bended to my face level.1 “They traveled out from this country to the north where news takes years to get to there and you think your family has time to be checking gossip feeds.” His words brought me back to reality. “what do you want from me” I said trembling as I understood nobody was coming. Jasper’s lip curled. “You, as my wife” My stomach dropped. I stumbled back, shaking my head. “Absolutely not. No” Jasper sighed dramatically. “you don’t have a choice. Either you become my wife, or you stay here and lose your child” his tone louder and more colder I clenched my fist, my breathing ragged. Marriage. Another contract. Another hell But do I have any choice? If I want to fight, I could. I could refuse being his contract wife but Elvery will make sure that I never see another day I hated myself Hated that he is right Taking a shaky breath, I forced myself to meet his gaze, my voice barely came out as a whisper. “I’ll do it” Jasper smirked. “Good girl” With a snap of his finger, the guard unlocked the door. “let’s go wifey. We have a wedding to plan” I stepped out from the cell, rethinking about my decision Will I regret it. Have I lost everything, I truly held. But I have my own plans for revenge.
