Chapter 9“Rabi, wake up! The alarm didn’t go off.”
I tried to shake the fog of a long night’s sleep out of my head. We had had more than one night without much sleep. It had finally caught up to us. I looked over at the alarm clock. It was 6:30.
“Oh, my God! I have to be at work in half an hour!”
“It’s all right. You can still make it,” she said, trying to calm me. I was getting dressed, skipping the shower. I had to get out of her room immediately.
“That’s not the problem,” I said, pulling on my pants. “I have to get out of the hotel before anyone sees me, or my boss will fire me.”
“I’ll watch out for you in the hallway,” she said. “I’ll wave you out the door when the coast is clear.” She quickly pulled on some jeans and a shirt and cautiously opened the door.
“Good morning,” I hear
