I went straight to the bedroom and fell into bed, pulling one of the pillows close to my chest. Not bothering to freshen up because of how much my evening with Annika weighed me down. While watching the mating dance, my eyes had briefly slid over to Annika and saw her fondling my mother’s locket like it was the most precious thing in the world.
