I had to do it. I needed to get away from everything. I took off on foot in the early hours to trail the streets alone. I gave no word of where I was, or what I was doing. I had to be alone, away from the Manor, away from the beings they call Aons and Legions. I needed the real, living, breathing, human beings. People who were unaware and lived happily throughout the silent raging war that has begun beneath their noses. I needed that. People who were incoherent of it all. I didn’t want to talk to them, just sit still and listen to their meager troubles and their happy tales. I walked the streets until noon, watching slowly as New York became alive once more. It was cold out, October, I believe. The air was cold, my breath was visible when it left my lips. I tucked my hands into my pocket
