The young billionaire strolled out to the elevator of her building with her coffee brown stilettos that matched perfectly with her coffee brown dress that as usual did nothing but favours to her beautiful body.
Met by her assistant that had her schedule in hand.
Pressing the button for her, she stood next to him Waiting for the doors to slide open. "Morning Ms Peters", he said in courtesy before flipping open her schedule. "Morning Gregor", she said and the door slid open.
They both walked inside the elevator.
"So for what you have today. You have to meet with the team working on the skyscraper that's to be built in London", he said and Chinenye noted that down mentally, remembering how important this project was for her empire. It was something she really looked forward to and couldn't wait to see the ideas of the people she put on it, hopefully they wouldn't ruin her mood by showing her a straight and boring building with little or no creativity.
"Also Mr Emmanuel wants you to go over the hotel one more time, there's already a digital representation, I looked through it and he's on a right track", Gregor pointed out as the elevator came to a stop. "Also the board actually all called for a meet in 30 minutes", he said looking at his watch and taking note of time as the both walked out of the elevator.
"The board? Is summoning me? This will be very interesting", she said cracking a small smile as she thought of what stupid thing they probably had to complain about.
Gregor opened her glass office door for her and the both walked in to office.
"Anything else?", She said as she walked towards her chair. "No ma'am, nothing so important, the rest of your schedule is in your email", the assistant said smiling at his boss as she took her seat and placed her her bag on the desk. "Thank you Gregor", she said nodding before opening up her computer.
Chinenye had already spent 30minutes going through her schedule for not just today but this week. Turned out burying your late father actually brought her more into the public eye than ever before.
"Ms Peter", Gregor said poking his head through his boss's office door. "I'd appreciate you stop poking your head at the door like a little child Gregor. Come in straight away and tell me what you want", She said with her eyes glued on her laptop as she observed some digital sketches.
"Sorry ma'am but the meeting has started", he said as his full body finally entered the office. "Oh", she said remembering and looking up from her computer.
"Thank you Gregor, inform them that I will meet with them very shortly please".
Chinenye made her way to the meeting room that already had 9 men in it all discussing within themselves about something she would find out soon.
"Good morning gentlemen", she said as she entered the room and went to her perfect position.
Taking her seat and being comfortable enough she looked at every single one of them that had probably on hate and lust in their eyes for her.
She was quite used to it though, and she couldn't care less if someone hated her or not, especially when they weren't reducing her or her empire.
"Good morning ma'am", Mr Richard greeted on behalf of everyone getting nothing back but a stare his way as Chinenye waited for a reason to interrupt her busy schedule.
"Is there a good reason that this meeting was called gentlemen?", She said removing her gaze from Mr Richard and making sure every one of them got a look for her.
"We're sorry to disturb your schedule ma'am, but something came to attention that needs to be addressed", Mr Adams said speaking on the behalf of his co workers that were seated in front of the boss.
"I'm sorry to say, but I don't have all day gentlemen. Please stop beating around the bush and tell me what exactly you want", she stated with a hint of annoyance in her tone, making the adult men tremble under her gaze.
"Ma'am, Mr Adams stood to his feet with bravery once again. "On behalf of everybody here, condolences for your loss ma'am", he said and got only an eye roll from Chinenye, that could have been emailed, she thought.
"With his passing, we were also informed of his will. And also the benefits that may come with it, if a condition was met by you", he said taking a pause and making a silent prayer as he prepared to talk again.
Chinenye crossed her legs to get even more comfortable in her seat already knowing what he was about to say.
These fools, she thought while she kissed her teeth.
"We saw the benefits of the condition and we all agree that it is only proper for you to meet the requirements of the will. Not only for your family but for the company. We're doing just fine without the help of your late father's company yes, but imagine how much greater we'll be doing miss", the man said hoping that the insults that were about to be rained on him won't lead to him stepping down from his position in the company.
"I see", Chinenye mouthed out and nodded as if thinking to herself and actually considering their proposal or advice or whatever it was that they just said through Mr Richard.
"Well I appreciate the concern and the advice or proposal", she said, uncrossing her legs and moving closer to the table then placing both her elbows on the table.
"It looks like you all put much thought into what Mr Richard has just said and I appreciate the idea", she said staring one by one.
"However I believe it is my personal decision whether or not to share my life with another person. As you also didn't fail to mention, we are doing just fine without the help of any other company and especially my father's", Chinenye mentioned composing herself so not to look unsettled by the discussion.
"I've heard you all out and thank you for the concern. I'll be sure to take the advice into consideration", she said before standing up to her feet. "Good day gentlemen and please get back to work instead of gossiping about my marital status".
Chinenye made her way back to her office with Gregor behind her trail. She was sick and tired of the stupid and irrelevant topic of her getting married to appease her father and appease her siblings and now apparently to appease her company.
She was sick and tired of the word marriage.
As she got closer to her office she could make out a figure of an old man with a stick who was probably non other than her uncle. She could have guessed that it was him causing havoc and spreading the news of her "dutiful" marriage to whomever.
"Gregor, what is a man doing in my office?", She asked loud enough so Gregor could hear. Gregor ran to her side immediately like he was a slave being summoned.
"I have no idea ma'am", he said having nothing else to say as they already got to her office door.
"My most beautiful niece", her uncle greeted as he saw her. She tried her best not to show her irritation on her face. "Uncle Emeka", she said in return.
"You are really running this place", he said looking around her office then back at her. "What a little empire you have here, it would be a shame to loose it", he said looking straight into Chinenye's eyed making her blood boil.
Was that a threat? She thought not wanting to say it out loud.
"I wasn't told I had an appointment with you", she said walking away from him abd to her chair, making the old man smile evilly, knowing her tactic to ignore his threat.
"I now need an appointment to talk to my favorite niece", he said making his way to a chair while Chinenye followed his every movement.
"I'm a very busy woman uncle", she pointed out with a straight face as he wore a smile again. "I don't doubt that", he said then removed his gaze.
"You're not making any moves to marry Chinenye", he says asif singing ancient song. "You see I knew you were stubborn, infact your father knew as well, which is why he didn't just make your marriage a condition but so much more. He designed it to be more of a escape route", he said smiling to himself again as he stared at the walls of the office.
"What foolery are you speaking of", Chinenye asks already tired of the old man's performance.
"I mean, your father is a very smart man", the old man stated now looking back at Chinenye.
"CHITEF constructions and building firm, the biggest and greatest construction firm in the country. The third greatest in the Continent and one of the fastest growing corporations on the globe. Founder and chief CEO Chinenye Faith Peters, one of the youngest and richest entrepreneurs in the continent and also one of the most recognized female figures in Africa. The queen of the CHITEF empire and much more. CHITEF, which has 4 share holders, Chinenye having a share of 65% and Mr Demian Ayomide having a fair share of 15.5% percent of the company's share. Second most in the corporation. Which was sold to Mr Peters before his death", he said making Chinenye's heart skip a beat, how could such a sale happen without her knowing, how could that happen without her ever suspecting, it's not possible.
"In the events of his passing, that particular share was passed to me, making me a share holder of your company", he said smiling.
"Get married Chinenye, it won't be as bad as what's about to happen if you don't, respect your father's wishes or watch your empire burn to the ground".
