He steps closer, each movement deliberate, predatory. The distance between them closes, and Seraphine can feel the heat radiating from his body, the magnetic pull drawing her in. Azael reaches out, his fingers grazing her jawline with a feather-light touch. “You shouldn’t have come,” he whispers, his breath warm against her ear. “But now that you’re here…” His hand slides down her neck, his touch sending jolts of electricity through her. He cups her chin, tilting her head back to expose the delicate line of her throat. His lips hover just above her skin, teasing, testing her resolve. “You feel it too, don’t you?” he breathes. “The pull. The hunger.” Seraphine’s pulse quickens, her body betraying her with a rush of heat. She wants to step back, to flee, but something deeper holds her in place—a desire, dark and consuming. Azael’s lips brush against her ear, his voice a seductive whisper. “I could take you right here, right now. Make you mine in this forsaken place.” His words ignite a fire within her, a longing she’s tried to suppress. She meets his gaze, her eyes dark with unspoken need. “But you won’t,” she challenges, her voice trembling but defiant. Azael chuckles softly, a sound rich with amusement and something darker. “Oh, I will,” he promises. “When you’re ready.” He steps back, his eyes never leaving hers. “But for now, we wait. The game has only just begun.” With that, he grasps her had, gives it a gentle kiss, and steps back into the shadows, his form dissolving into the darkness as if he were never there. Seraphine stands alone, the weight of his words pressing down upon her. The crypt is silent once more, but the air is charged with an unsettling energy. She knows this encounter is just the beginning.
