Argument

I said goodbye to Annie in the car park and waved at her as she drove off. I rummaged in my bag for my keys whilst walking in the direction of my parked car. I stopped suddenly when I noticed I was standing at the boot of Liam’s car. What’s he doing in town? I thought he was staying at hoke today. I pulled my phone out to text him but then realised how weird that would be. He would probably think I’m stalking him or something. I shook the idea from my head and continued to walk to my car.  I hopped into the drivers seat and put my key into the ignition. However,I didn’t turn it when I saw Liam walking into the car park... with another woman?! She was slim, blonde and tall. She was wearing a white tightly fitted dress with white stilettos. She was laughing at something Liam had said and they were making their way closer to his car that was parked a few spaces from mine. I was on a separate row so I could see through his front window screen. They got in the car and she was smiling and chatting away to him. They seemed very close and I was having flash backs to when he was flirting with Tess in the pool. I ducked down as Liam turned his lights on and he drove off. I was in two minds whether to follow him or not but I didn’t want to risk getting caught.  Sitting on the sofa at home waiting for Liam to come back, I was scrolling through my phone to pass the time. It was now 7pm and I’ve been sitting here for over an hour. I continued scrolling through my phone and saw a post from Annie. It was a picture of her and Dylan from three days ago, kissing at someone’s party. I’m not going to lie, I was slightly pissed off that I wasn’t invited but on the other hand I was glad that I wasn’t around that prick. The front door clicked and swung open and I sat there staring at Liam. The front door was connected to the living room so he had no choice but to notice me sitting there. “Oh, hey Elle, you okay?” He smiled nervously. I sat there, extremely tense and trying to keep my anger inside of me.  “Yeah I’m good, how was your evening?” I asked sarcastically. He lowered his eyebrows and replied “good thanks”. I bit at my lip and hummed “mhmm”.  “Elle, your acting weird. Is everything okay?” He asked putting his keys down. I could feel it bubbling up inside me. “Yep. I’m fine” I bluntly replied. “I was actually meeting a friend today at the coffee shop in town” I smugly informed him. “Oh, well that’s nice” he said slightly confused by my attitude.  “Yeah it was, well... that was until I got in my car and noticed you and another girl”. His body slumped with irritation and sat down on the opposite sofa. “Right? What’s your point?” He asked. “My point? Isn’t it obvious? You told me that you were staying home this evening. You’re clearly up to your old tricks again” I snapped. “My old tricks?” He queried. “Well it took you well over an hour to drop the girl home. From your track record, that’s enough time to f**k her” I implied and he narrowed his eyes at me.  “Are you f*****g serious?” He raised his tone. “She’s my sisters mate and I was giving her a lift after spending some time with with Gem. I wasn’t going to go out but Gemma rang me and asked to meet up. That girl you saw me with is Samantha, she’s going out with my mate Ben. If I left her to walk home then he wouldn’t be very happy with me now would he?” He explained. My heart sank to the pit of my stomach as a wave of guilt overcame me. “So why did it take so long for you to get back here?” I asked him and he sighed. “I was chatting to Ben” he replied. “Oh” I said looking down at my feet. He stared at me harshly and then shook his head. “I’m gonna go and get changed” he broke the silence and I called out to him before he left the room. “I’m sorry” I said. “For what Elle? For spying on me? Or for making assumptions based on my past?” He replied spitefully. I bit my lip nervously and bluntly said “both”. “I thought you were better than that Elle, I thought that we might have a second chance... I was wrong” he finally said and walked out. My body slumped as I heard his footsteps ascend up the stairs. Why have I all of a sudden turned into a jealous b***h? He’s obviously a lot different to the person he use to be so why am I still holding it against him? I didn’t want to provoke him anymore than I already have so I left him to it for the night. Monday morning, I was at my desk taking phone calls, as per usual. I didn’t see Liam this morning because he left early. I could tell he was avoiding me. Bex walked up to me with a spring in her step. She put her hands on the desk to gain my attention before she spoke. “Guess who’s hosting the party of the century this weekend?” She exaggerated.  “Ummm.... you?” I replied and she grinned. “Yep! And I’m inviting all of my work colleagues, so consider yourself officially invited!”. I smiled at her as convincingly as I could. I couldn’t think of anything worse than to go to a party. Things were so tense with me and Liam and Cameron was still on the loose.  “Is the boss invited?” I asked discretely wanting to know for personal reasons. “Of course, got to have some eye candy at the party” she winked.  “Eye candy?” I prodded and she giggled. “Come on, he’s incredibly hot and that body he’s hiding underneath his suit... I bet it’s rock solid” she exclaimed. I felt slightly annoyed at how much detail Bex was going into about Liam’s looks. Why was I being so possessive over him?! “Sounds like someone’s got the hots for the boss” I stated and she laughed. “Who wouldn’t, he’s sexy as f**k” she grinned and started to walk back to her office. “7pm, Saturday! Don’t be late!” She called back to me before entering her office. I sighed and tried to focus on my work but I couldn’t stop thinking about Bex’s enthusiasm about Liam. She’s really pretty as well. She has long black hair and a toned complex. Her eyes were dark blue and her features were perfectly symmetrical. When it comes to her body, it’s flawless and curvy. Everything that Liam use to find attractive on a woman. I rolled my eyes and tried to get the images of her and Liam getting close at this party. I found it extremely difficult.  Hours passed and I still hadn’t seen Liam once. I was beginning to think that he didn’t bother coming in today. He is normally pottering around the floor, acting all profession and in control. I opened up my email account and clicked on his address to write a message. Are you still mad at me? I stared at the open message for a while, debating whether to send it or not. I was frightened that he was going to ignore me or reject me. We has such an amazing time at the hut and I just had to go and ruin it. I held the back button on the keyboard and watched the message delete letter by letter. I stared at the screen and clicked off of the email application. I need to just get stuck in with the tasks at hand and forget about Liam for the time being. He clearly wants some space and that’s what I need to give him. Another half an hour went by. I kept taking in appointments and messages for other colleagues. Suddenly my personal mobile buzzed on the desk beside me. It was a text message. Unknown I hesitated to open it. Unknown I’ll see you soon For some reason I felt a cold chill go through my spine. Everyone who I know is saved in my phone. There isn’t one person who isn’t saved and it scared me. How did this person get my number and who the f**k is it? Elle Who is this? I stared at the conversation and waited for a reply impatiently. I was getting really concerned as the seconds ticked by. I was suddenly startled by Liam’s voice. “We aren’t allowed our phones at work, you know that” he spitefully claimed. I jolted with fright and looked up at him.  “f**k Liam, you made me jump!” I admitted and he raised his brow at me. “Has Mrs Foster got back to you yet?” He asked me and I scrunched my face up. He hasn’t spoken to me or seen me since yesterday and that’s the first thing that he says to me? I must have really pissed him off last night.  “Uh... no she hasn’t. Liam can we...” “Could you give her a ring and ask her if she is able to come in for a meeting please? I would like to speak to her face to face” he interrupted sternly. My mouth was open in shock of his rudeness and he had his arms folded. I wanted this to stop, I needed this to stop. It was too much for me to handle, especially when I get creepy text messages from someone I didn’t know. I needed to feel safe and at the moment I didn’t. I was too scared to tell Liam about the message because of how rude he was being. I didn’t want him to dismiss it.  “Okay” I replied and he turned to walk to his office. Before he could open his door, I saw Bex catch his attention and he turned to her. I couldn’t hear what they were saying but I could tell she was asking him to go to her party. His expression didn’t seem very excited but he nodded to her whilst saying something. He opened his office door and Bex followed him in.  I tried to restrain the urge to find out what they were doing by calling Mrs a Foster. The ring tone repeated until someone finally picked up. “Hello?” The voice said. “Hello there, is that Mrs Foster?” I asked professionally. “Yes, speaking” she replied. “Hello there, this is Elise from the PPE company”  “Oh hello there” she warmly greeted. “I am ringing to see if there was the possibility of booking you in an appointment this week to meet with Mr Thompson?” “Uh... would Wednesday be okay?” She asked me. “Whatever is best for you Mrs Foster. He is free in the afternoon if that is alright?” I returned the question. “Yes, 2:30 should be fine” she answered and typed in the appointment onto the system. “Brilliant, we look forward to seeing you then. Thank you for your time Mrs. foster” I finally said before hanging up the phone. I wrote the appointment down on a posted note and ripped it off of the stack. I made my way to his office to tell him the information. At least that’s my excuse, I was really going to see what him and bex were up to in his office, she had been in there for a while.
