The President and the Media Spokesperson of the Committee to Protect Journalists issued a statement. Every member who was assigned the reporter Willie Forsyth’s case heard Forsyth’s name in the statement. The President of the CPJ continued. “We, the Committee to Protect Journalists, would like to announce that the deceased Willie Forsyth was a member who worked closely with us to bring justice to journalists who corrupt forces or individuals killed. We have successfully started to build a case against those whom we suspect, and those responsible for this ruthless murder will be punished. And this is to whoever is responsible for this. If you are listening, what kind of power you might have at your disposal, be prepared to deal with this on our own terms.”
“ Are we thinking of teaming up"? Sergeant Holland looked at the Chief of the Department of Homicide and received a glare in return.
“The CPJ would make our investigations effective and less time-consuming,” the Chief thought, but he did not tell any of his officers.
The Police Department members were not the only crew listening to the statement by the CPJ. The other group was the Cartel members of Danny Kay’s group. The boss was alerted without a minute's delay.
“Boss, this pack cannot be taken lightly.”
"Oh yeah? “ Danny Kay looked at the underboss with sarcasm. “ What are you implying, Freddy? That we put up a white flag and run"?
“Boss, this pack gets to people who do these kinds of things, and they usually know what's going on in all the fellas’ lives.”
“I agree.” Another member cautiously joined the conversation.
“ Danny Kay got here beating the devil. I won’t run anywhere. I don’t leave evidence. They wouldn't have anything against me”! Danny Kay retorted proudly and fiercely.
"Boss, these people can move mountains. They have power, and they campaign for journalists. They get them out of prisons, change laws, release them from all sorts of situations, even if Muslims run the countries.
“Are these people behind the case against Gotabaya Rajapaksha?”
“Yeah. I remember that name, and the journalist who was killed was Lasantha Wickremathunga. No one else before them could get close to where they got. Also, the Dom Philips and Perreira case.
“Who were they?” Danny Kay’s tone was less defiant by now.
“ Philips was, if I remember right, a journalist, and the other guy, Perreira, whose first name I’ve forgotten, was an indigenous expert. They were on sss. Both of them were shot dead when they were in the woods, because they reported the illegal fishing and some other shady stuff going on. The CPJ hunted them down.
“Those who did it?”
“Yes. They have been the leader of the gang members and their crooks.”
“Just what are you getting at? Danny Kay’s anger flared.
“ You afraid"?
“ Well, I would take precautions if someone were to hunt those who are responsible for what I had done.” The member who responded to his question looked down at his feet and swallowed.
“Well, I would like to say that I will continue to be here, and I will run my business.”
“Maybe you should continue the business from somewhere else? We can set it up and pack…” When the underboss continued, he was met with an icy-cold stare and a curled fist.
