Chapter10

1036 Words
Frantic knocks on the door of his private cabin made Danny Kay stand up and activate his alert mind, and there wasn't a lapse of a second before his phone started ringing. As he moved in long strides to open the door of his private cabin, his most trusted ally stood at the door, looking slightly alarmed. "You have gone pale?" Danny Kay spoke calmly. "Boss, it's a damn vessel that is coming right at us! Driving at us head-on!" "Who does it belong to?" Danny Kay's tone had not changed. He was taking calculated measures. His brain was working fast. " It has both the British and Scottish flags on it, and I'm not embarrassed to say that I saw it right and that this is the first time I have seen anything like it. " "Do you have anything white?" "A white cloth or something that could look like a white flag?" By now, they had walked out of the cabin, into ....... and Danny knew that they did not have time. The opposing vessel was a few seconds away from colliding, and Danny's captain was trying his best to avoid the collision. However, both Danny and his deputy could feel the vessel making a sharp turn as if pleading with them to cling to something steady, if they preferred not to be washed overboard. "White flag!" Danny yelled. "What the hell are they doing? I need to go on deck! Danny already knew that he was not thinking clearly. Yet he had no other option because he was not ready to let the weapons speak first. Not when whatever was coming up at them had the national flags of two countries hoisted on their end. "Boss, I can go on deck, and you can get me something white. I'll buy time until you get it." Before Danny Kay could open his mouth in protest, his Underboss was already up on the deck. Danny gritted his teeth because he had a better idea. He had dared not take off his cassock ever since he came on board the vessel, and he knew that it was a simple task to get on board and appear in the cassock so that they could avoid the first few seconds of danger that was pushed towards them. Then would come the introductions and questioning, if this vessel was one belonging to any troops of the two countries. All of these possibilities ran across his mind just as Danny was mounting towards the deck. He had already forgotten the white flag when he hoisted his arms up in surrender, and the vessel immediately turned away from them, though the delay did not save them from the obvious consequences that were to follow. A voice broke through the PA system. " This is the Royal Guard. You have violated the laws by being on our path. We need you to surrender and abandon your vessel immediately," an officer announced. Danny Kay touched his beard. He was nervous, and the beard was a fake one. He will have to obey the Royal Guard. "I'll be treated with respect! I'm a priest after all." "What about the rest of the people on board, father?" The officer mouthed the very same question Danny Kay dreaded to address. If these officers set their sights on the crew that accompanied a priest, they would have more than a few questions. "I will act on behalf of them. Once you ask me, you will get the chance to speak to them, but I will always appear on their behalf." The Underboss cursed himself as he heard his boss speaking. Everything had happened so fast. They only had one other member, as all the other teammates were left behind to stop the businesses from falling apart. He would give everything they had to fight, and he would win. He signaled his comrade to get ready to attack if his boss seemed to be facing a threat, and he took his own SIG Sauer P365 9mm, placing his complete faith in the weapon. Danny Kay's deputy watched forlornly as his boss took the extended hand of a sailor, getting his help to step into a small boat. Was the boss too quick to do this? Why didn't he attack?" "I would have been captured. I know what you are thinking," "Danny thought to himself as he tried to think of his members." "Useless attacking because we will be in worse trouble." Inside the cabin of the royal couple, Giselle had already begun to be curious as the vessel took a sharp turn, and it seemed to have stopped. Julian's attention was drawn towards a report from one of the officers. Giselle had tried on a custom sequin-dripping lavender maxi dress, which complemented her curves, and she was reluctant to change the dress until she sorted out the jewelry to be paired with it. Giselle craved to make Julian a part of it and get his opinion on it. He had to feel that he had a beautiful woman on his arm. When she heard that Julian kept speaking longer, she walked towards the door of the cabin. ***** Danny Kay was transferred to the vessel of the Royal Guard by half a dozen military officers in uniform. He trampled his cassock many times while he was desperately trying to climb up the ladder. It was a desperate climb indeed. As fate would have it, when Danny was climbing the last few steps of the ladder, his foot slipped, and he frantically grabbed onto the pole. He grabbed his beard, which was a bit too long. However, Danny did not fall from the ladder, and a few officers helped him to be taken on board the deck. When he took a peaceful breath and looked up thankfully, three AS80 weapons were pointed at his head. He did not move. His fake beard had been removed when he fought to cling to the ladder and an interrogation was inevitable. ***** Reluctant to let her husband be away from her, Giselle walked towards the door to check on her husband. "Darling, what is it?" Then they heard the first gunshot.
