Chapter 18 buying a gift

Casey's P.O.V 

  I packed away both briefcases and tidied everything up, putting the rest of the money I had found in an envelope. Tomorrow was Becky's birthday and I still hadn't got her a present, I wonder if Katherine would like to come shopping with me. I put on my shoes and walked out of my room, heading downstairs to find Katherine and she was yet again in the living room.

  "Hey are you busy? If not could you take me to the store so I can get Becky a birthday gift?" I asked and her eyes lit up, she always loved shopping.

  "Of course, are you ready to go now?" Katherine asked, jumping up from her seat and putting her shoes on. 

  "Yes, I'm ready." I replied and Katherine shot past me.

  "Alright, come on let's go." Katherine said, excitedly. I had my phone and purse with me and the money I had found just in case I needed it. We got in the truck and it struck me that I didn't know what to buy Becky. 

  "Do you know what Becky likes? Does she collect anything?" I asked, hoping Katherine would give me some ideas. Kathrine thought for a moment, trying to come up with ideas.

  "I know she likes make-up, she needs a pair of shoes and a new blanket, the one she has now is so old it doesn't keep her warm anymore, but she refuses to get another one. She could also use some hair stuff too, but she said she was going today to get that." Katherine replied, I nodded and thought for a moment. 

  Katherine's P.O.V 

  I loved shopping and even though we were only meant to be going to get Becky a birthday present, it didn't mean we couldn't buy other things too. Casey had gone very quiet after I told her about what Becky liked, she seemed to be deep in thought and looked a bit nervous.

  "Could I invite Jake tomorrow, if it's ok with your dad?" Casey asked me, breaking the silence. I was a little shocked at first but didn't say anything for a moment.

  "Hey dad, Casey just asked me if it was okay for her to invite Jake tomorrow for the party?" I asked, mind-linking my dad and thankfully he replied straight away.

  "Yes of course, just as long as he feeds before he comes here. It's fine." My dad replied and I cut the link off. I'm glad Casey was looking out her window,  otherwise she would have noticed my eyes glazing over during the mind-link and that would have raised a lot of questions, which I'm sure she wasn't ready to know the answers to.

  "I'm sure he would be okay with it. Jake is your friend Casey and you need your friends now more than ever. My dad will be completely fine with it, I promise." I replied, just as Casey turned to ask me again. Casey nodded and pulled her phone out of her pocket, probably to text Jake and ask him.

  Casey's P.O.V 

  I hope this is going to be alright with Katherine's mom and dad, maybe i should wait until she has asked them before I message Jake, but then again Katherine did say that her dad wouldn't mind. I'll message him and ask him, I took my phone out and began typing.

Me: Hi Jake, this is Casey, remember me lol? I was wondering if you would like to come to a birthday party?

  I sent the text and immediately felt stupid. What if he was busy? What if he didn't want to come? My mind started doubting everything until my phone buzzed and made me jump.

Jake: Hi Casey! Of course I remember you, lol. I would love to come, just shoot me the address and the time and I'll be there.

  "Hey, what's your address and what time does the party start?" I asked, realising that I had been staying there for over two weeks now and still didn't know the address.

  "It's called….er….Red Moon Territory and the party starts at twelve noon." Katherine replied, weird name for a place, but okay. 

Me: It's at Red Moon Territory and 12pm.

Jake: Okay, I'll be there :)

Me: I'm out now buying Becky a gift with Kathrine, I'll text later. 

  I messaged back and put my phone back in my pocket, turning back to Kathrine.

  "Thank you for letting him come, he seems really nice and I know he's new." I said and Kathrine nodded, while keeping her eyes on the road. 

  "He's really nice and his family moved here a few years back, but he went to a different school back then and decided to come to ours since it's a lot closer. I think he has a sister, maybe even a brother, but I'm not sure." Katherine replied, just as we pulled up to Target, we got out and went into the store. I decided to get Becky a new blanket set with sheets, seeing as she needed a new one. I also got myself a few pairs of jeans that were on sale and shirts to match, I got a couple pairs of earrings, a necklace and some make-up. Katherine was like a bat out of hell when she was shopping, she got a few pairs of shoes, pants, shorts, shirts and some makeup. We went to the till to cash out and my stuff came to $345.63, while Katherine's was $467.89, but that was normal for her. Everything was packed up and we went back to the truck, loading it in and drove back home. We waited in the truck a few minutes, looking around to make sure that Becky was nowhere in sight and quickly grabbed everything, running into the house and straight into the living room. 

  "I hope she will like it, I bought the quilt set with the wolf on it and I got her the sheets to match." I said, showing Katherine and she softly smiled. 

  "I'm sure she will love it." Katherine replied, making me feel happy about my choice.
