Chapter 16 the funeral

Casey's P.O.V    Why was Jake here? I don't know why, but for some reason I was happy to see him and having his hand on my shoulder comforted me. I rested my head against his hand and I swear I felt him tense up slightly and then relax. What was all that about?    "I'm sorry, I didn't know or I would have been here for you." Jake said, which surprised me. I nodded as tears started to build up in my eyes.   "But you barely know me, I shrugged you off when you asked me out." I replied, but he shook his head.   "It's ok, you didn't know me back then and I was new, but I hope we can be friends and in time maybe, one day grow from there. Right now though, I just want to be here for you. How are you holding up?" Jake said, I got up from my seat and went to walk towards him, but my knees buckled beneath me and I landed on the ground hard, crying. Jake rushed forward and kneeled down with me, wrapping his arms around me and holding me until I was ok. When I was finally done crying, I pulled away from Jake, giving him a small smile and he helped me up. I walked over to my parents graves and rested my hand over the dirt that had now been filled in.   "Mom, dad, I'm going to miss you so much, but I promise that I'll come visit you and talk to you in a few days. Thank you for everything you have done for me. I love you." I said, with that I turned and walked away from them, Katherine was waiting for me by her truck, but I stopped in front of Jake.    "Thank you for being here for me, it means a lot and yes I would like to be friends." I said, taking his hand, pulling out a pen and writing my number on his palm.   "Text me, ok." I said, he nodded with a wide smile and I walked towards Katherine's truck and got in. Kathrine looked over at Jake and nodded, he nodded back and we drove off.   "Are you okay?" Katherine asked, I gave a weak nod and looked down at my hands.   "I don't think I'll be okay for awhile, but I'm not going to be the victim here and I don't want pity. One day I'll be ok, but until then please don't feel sorry for me, just be there for me when I break down or just need to go bat s**t crazy for a few minutes." I replied and Kathrine chuckled.   "I think I can do that and besides you're my best friend, if you're going to go bat s**t crazy I am the perfect person to be around because I'll join you." Katherine said, making us both laugh. My phone went off just as we pulled up to the house, I took it out of my pocket and I had a text message from a number I didn't know.  Jake: Hia it's Jake, now you have my number too. I just wanted to see how you're doing? Me: Thanks Jake, I'm okay, just got back to the house. I'm going to rest up for a bit.  Jake: Alright I'll text you later :)    I put my phone off as I got out of the truck and headed into the house to my room.    "I'm going to rest for a bit, maybe soak in the tub, all this stress is getting to me." I said, Katherine nodded, as she watched me head inside.   Katherine's P.O.V    I walked to my dad's office and closed the door behind me, causing my father to look up.   "Jake came today, he didn't lead her on to anything." I said, my dad nodded and sighed.    "I think he agrees, but we'll tell her when the time comes, she's been through too much already. I admire her, most humans want to be victims, but she's strong and I think she will be a great Luna when she is ready." My dad replied, then looked like he was trying to think of something.    "We'll just need to be extra careful, Becky's birthday is tomorrow and it's her first shift." My dad said, making me remember.   "How are we going to do this?" I asked, my dad sighed and thought for a few minutes.   "We can have the party in the morning, you and your mother will help her shift that night." My dad suggested.   "Well what about Emily? She can help as well. It's better to have three." I said, my dad nodded in agreement. Shifting for the first time was hard and painful, we needed to be there for Becky.   "We can have the guards and warriors there as well, that way we can be safe while we do this." My dad replied, I nodded and got up, leaving my dad's office. The plan was set, all we needed to do was find a way to distract Casey. "How is she doing?" My mate Terry said, coming up behind me and kissing me softly.   "So far she's doing okay. She's in her room now, but who knows how she is when she is by herself, she lost her mother and father in one day, anyone would have lost it by now." I replied, Terry nodded and wrapped his arms around my waist.   "Well, let's give her some space, she probably needs it right now." Terry said and we headed upstairs to our room and I stopped outside Casey's door, trying to see if I could hear anything, but I couldn't.   "Did you forget that your dad had all the rooms soundproofed?" Gordon whispered and I had to admit I completely forgot. I walked back to him and we went inside our room and got settled in for the night
