Casey's P.O.V
I decided to look at another one, all this had made me more and more curious, what else did my dad hide? I pulled another briefcase out and opened it. I found a large envelope that read 'Last Will And Testament' with a note attached to the front of it. I decided it was best to read the note first.
To my dearest daughter Casey, this is our last will and testament, please have a lawyer look at it, so you can understand what you are reading.
We love you.
I decided I was going to ask Katherine's dad Ron for help with the will in the morning. I also found paperwork for their funeral and where they wanted to be buried, causing me to drop the paper. Did they know they were going to die? Were they preparing all this because they knew? Tears started coming down my face, this was all too much, it was too crazy for me to handle right now. In the morning I will ask Katherine if she will take me to this bank, so I can deposit all this cash and then I would like to talk to Ron about this Will and the funeral arrangements. I put everything away and laid back in bed, staring up at the ceiling, falling fast asleep. The next day I got up, took a shower, dried off and got dressed, then headed downstairs and saw that Katherine was in the kitchen. I tapped her on the shoulder, making her jump.
"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, I was just going to ask if you could take me to this bank called VyStar, my dad had a checking and savings account there for me and I want to put all that money they gave me in the bank. Also do you think your dad could look at this Will for me please?" I asked and Katherine nodded yes.
"Yeah I'll take you, give me a second, I was cleaning the counter off and I'm sure dad will take a look at it, let's head to the bank first." Katherine replied, wiping the crumbs off the counter. I grabbed all the paperwork I had and we left the house, getting into her truck and driving off. It didn't take long for us to get to the bank, considering it was eight miles away, but there were hardly any cars on the road.
"I'm not really sure how to do this." I said, looking out the window at the bank.
"It's okay, just get a deposit slip, I would say maybe three with the amount you have, write down what you want to deposit and take it to the teller." Katherine said, explaining the procedure.
"Oh and have your ID out ready. Do you want me to come with you?" Katherine continued and I nodded, thank god I remembered to bring it just in case. We both walked inside and I grabbed a few deposit slips, filled them out and took them to the teller with the money.
"Oh my goodness, your Micheal's daughter." The teller said, like she had met me before, which stunned me because I had never been here. She had long brown hair that flowed down her back and big brown eyes.
"How did you know that?" I asked, confused, but she just chuckled.
"Everytime your dad came in here, he would come to this section and he would show your picture to all of us." The teller explained, I nodded, happy that my dad was proud enough to show my picture.
"Okay, I would like to deposit all this money they left me." I replied, handing her the deposit slips and the money.
"Yes, we have all heard what happened, we are deeply sorry for your loss." The teller said, taking the slips and all the cash, she typed everything into the computer and then deposited all the money. When she had finished she handed me a slip of how much was in my accounts now. My eyes went wide when I saw how much was in there and I quickly stuck the slip in my pocket.
"Thank you so much. If I get any more, I'll be back to deposit it." I said, the teller nodded with a kind smile and I walked back over to Katherine. We walked out of the bank and drove back to the house. When we finally got back, Katherine took me straight to her dad's office and knocked on the door a few times.
"Come in." Ron said, Katherine opened the door and we went in.
"Dad, Casey has a Will that her parents left her, could you take a look at it please?" Katherine asked, standing in front of her dad's desk, while I stood behind her. Ron looked up from the computer and gestured for us to sit down in the chairs in front of his desk.
"Of course sweetie, why don't you two come and sit down, I'll take a look at it." Ron replied, we both sat down and I handed Ron the Will and the funeral paperwork. There were several papers that he needed to read, he sat back in his chair and began to read them, it took him an hour to read everything. When he was finished, he took a deep breath and looked up from the papers with his hazel green eyes, running his hand through his blonde hair.
"Well, Casey, it seems they have left you the house to sell and whatever money you get from that will need to be put in your savings account. You can't have the money until you're eighteen and until you graduate, but even then you will need to put aside money for college, so you need to start putting in college applications, after you get done with one year of college if you choose to attend another year you can, if not, you must spend it wisely, because money doesn't grow on trees." Ron said, chuckling.
"I'm not the one that said that, it's actually in here." Ron said, pointing to where it said it and making all of us laugh.
"It also says that you have to live a life of honesty, donate to a charity of your choice, other than that the money is yours. Just go to a year of college and sell the house." Ron said, then started to look through the funeral paperwork.
