Casey's P.O.V
I looked back at the couch and decided to move the cushions, hoping I hadn't missed anything and it was a good thing I had, because I found four envelopes. I placed the cushions back and put the envelopes in the last box I was packing, I took both of the china cabinets, well bells and salt and pepper shakers that were inside them and I was finally done. My phone started to vibrate and ring in my pocket, so I pulled it out and looked to see who it was, but I didn't recognise the number.
"Hello." I said, answering my phone.
"Hello ma'am, I'm collecting for the thrift store and just want to tell you that we are nearly there and should be with you in about two to five minutes." The man one the other end of the phone said and I don't know why, but I felt relieved.
"Okay, thank you. I'll see you in a bit." I replied and hung up the phone. I took one final look around the house, making sure I hadn't missed or changed my mind about anything and I was satisfied. I went and stood outside with Katherine and just as I got there a huge truck was pulling up, but when I looked behind it another one was also pulling up. Four men got out of each truck and one man in the first truck walked over to us.
"Hello, I'm the one you spoke with on the phone. What is it that you would like to donate?" The man asked me, looking back at the house.
"Hello, everything in the house goes, upstairs and downstairs. I've boxed some things up as well to make it easier for you." I replied, the man nodded and waved his hand for the rest of the men to follow him into the house. One by one they brought all the boxes out of the house and started loading them into the truck, it took them about an hour and next was the furniture. The men started to bring each piece of furniture out, starting with the upstairs and when I saw my parents bed and dresser, I had to turn away or I would have started crying again. It took them four hours to get everything out of the house, chairs, tables, couches, even the TVs and when they were finally done they looked exhausted. I walked over to them and handed them the envelope that contained four hundred dollars.
"There is four hundred dollars here, I want you to have it and split it up between you, it's for the work you did here and also a tip to say thank you." I said, the man looked shocked, but gladly accepted it.
"Thank you, that's very kind of you." The man replied, shaking my hand. They all got back in the truck and I watched as they drove away. I turned and went back into the house, taking one last look around to make sure nothing had been left behind. The house felt so cold now and it was like no one had ever lived here, it didn't feel like a home anymore, it just felt like an empty shell. I went through each room, opening every door and double checking everything. The house was now completely empty and it made me feel so sad looking around at all the empty rooms, but I was glad it was over and done with now. I stood in the family room one last time, trying to stay strong, but it was no use and I fell down and cried my heart out.
Katherine's P.O.V
I stayed outside while Casey took one last look around her family home, it must have been so hard packing everything up and watching as it left. I don't know how she did it, but she did. I was just about to get into my truck when i heard her crying, it had all been too much for her and she finally broke, which was good, she needed to grieve and this was such a big step. I ran into the house and found her on the floor in the family room. I walked over to her and held her as she rocked back and forth in my arms.
"I know I don't know how you feel Casey, but I'm here for you. The only thing I will say is that I can be not only your friend, but your sister too. I'm so sorry Casey." I said, hugging her tightly, we stayed like this for a few minutes and finally got up.
"Come on, let's get home." I said, she nodded and I pulled her to her feet. We walked to the front door and Casey looked back one last time.
"Goodbye mom and dad. I love you." Casey whispered and it nearly broke my heart. She shut the door, locked it, got in my truck and we pulled away, heading back home.
Unknown P.O.V
Those two had been in there for hours, I didn't know what they were doing at first until they started bringing things out. I watched as they drove off and waited until they were no longer in view, I carefully made my way to the house and took out the spare key I had, unlocking and opening the front door. I walked inside and was shocked, they had emptied the whole house.
"Maybe they forgot something, maybe they didn't find the money or the letters." I said out loud to myself, trying to be hopeful. I went through the whole house, searching every room, cupboard, nook and cranny, but there was nothing.
"Damn it! Those bitches took all of it!" I growled, walking out the house. I didn't bother locking the door, what's the point no one lives there now and there's nothing to steal, f**k it. I quickly ran and shifted, running into the darkness of the woods.
