The complications

A young woman paced to and fro with a stern face. She was steaming, her nostril flared up in anger. A man in his early 30s rushed in spreading some documents on the table.
“Take a look at this information” he said, breathing unsteadily because of the speed he rushed in with.
On the table were pictures of Charlene, entering a restaurant, her place of work and entering the bus.
“What will I do with this information?” the lady sneered.
“This can be our only way to get to him”
“How? You know I don't like suspense” the lady said getting irritated
“She is Ethan supposed wife”
“Wife? Which day did Ethan get married?” The lady asked in shock.
“I was also shocked when I found out. Even the press did not have the information yet. It looks like it was done in secret”.
“There is more to this marriage of Ethan. Do more research and get back to me”
“Yes ma”. The man left the office .
The lady smiled evilly as she flashback to the past ; Ethan smirked at her as the press followed him taking pictures. He had just secured a business deal she had been trying to get so bad. She fisted her hand in anger, coming back to the present her hand was also fisted in the same rage. That was the personal vendetta she had against Ethan that will make her go extra length to get her revenge.
She was Victoria, a ruthless and cunning businesswoman who would stop at nothing to achieve her goals. Ethan had outmaneuvered her, securing a lucrative contract that Victoria had her eyes on. Since then, Victoria had been plotting her revenge. Her ultimate goal was to destroy Ethan's reputation and business empire. She would stop at nothing to get it even though it meant hurting innocent people.
Charlene sat in her room thinking of the revelation Ethan just made to her.
Flash back
Ethan just came back from making the call. The aura around him that was once warm changed to a very dangerous one, his eyes darkened.
“What is it?”
“I am afraid my past has come back to haunt me”. Ethan hesitated then he added “I was not always this isolated person”. Charlene held his hands trying to comfort him as she could sense his fear.
“I was coming back from a party back in college. I was driving while drunk, I did not see the young girl about to cross the road. It was a bit late at night and the street was empty that night”.
“I tried stepping on the brake but it failed. I hit the young girl. My family covered the incident and paid off the girl's family to keep their mouth shut and sponsor the girl hospital bills. The girl has been in a coma since then”. Ethan narrates his face with sadness as his past has been revealed and is being used to threaten him.
Present
Charlene sat worried. Ethan's past was more complicated than she imagined. His past has come to haunt his present. This information that these people knew was going to put his business deal at stake.
In another room, Victoria laughed viciously as she went through the information given to her by her assistant
“Ethan, oh Ethan, a pretend marriage I thought you were more smarter than this”.
“Take a look at this too”, the assistant said, handing her another paperwork.
“With this information let's wait for the right time to strike.”
“I think this is the right time”, the assistant said, showing Victoria a video. In the video Ethan and Charlene held hands together as they went into the restaurant together.
“I know what to do”. Victoria smirk as she exit the room.
“Charlene could you help me take a look at this arrangements. I feel it is a bit disorganized” .Cherina said
“Okay place it there I will take a look at it later”.
“Not later, now”
“I have things to do now”
Going through the paperwork Cherina brought to her, her phone rang picking it up
“Hello, What happened? Okay, I'm coming right now”.
She quickly went to Cherina. “Please help me take my shift for today. My mom's caretaker called me just now and my mom has been rushed to the hospital”.
“Okay, will you be back today?”
“Am not sure”.
Getting to the hospital Charlene saw her mom in the ICU beds. She was asleep so she went to see Dr Lee.
“How is her condition?” she asked
“It suddenly got worse. We need to perform another surgery as soon as possible”.
“Okay sir”.
After the hospital encounter, Charlene was torn between her loyalty to Ethan and her duty to her mother. She felt guilty for not being able to spend more time with her mother, and she worried about the future. She was lost in thinking that she could not have noticed Ethan coming in.
“Hey”. Ethan said in a low voice.
“How is your day going?” he added.
“My mother's condition suddenly became worse. I had to rush to the hospital from work today. We have to take the surgery even though the chance of survival is 50/50”. Charlene said closing her eyes all of this was exhausting.
Ethan, sensing Charlene's distress, “Don't worry she will be fine, let's be positive”. He tried to reassure her that he would do everything in his power to help her mother. But Charlene knew that the way things suddenly turned out she had to make a choice to either prioritize her mother's needs or continue her arrangement with Ethan.
Victoria on the hand was plotting her scheme. After she learnt about Ethan's arrangements with Charlene, she decided to take this opportunity to use Charlene's vulnerability and bring Ethan down . She began to gather information on Charlene intelligence, looking for any weaknesses that she could use to her advantage.
Victoria's plan was to sabotage Ethan's deal, making it look like Charlene was the one responsible. She would use Charlene's connection to Ethan to her advantage, manipulating the situation to make it seem like Charlene was the weak link in Ethan's plan.
As Victoria watched Charlene and Ethan's relationship deepen. She was not happy about it,she saw an opportunity to strike. She would use Charlene's feelings for Ethan against her, making her question her loyalty and her feelings at the same time. The stakes were high, and the consequences of their actions could be severe. If they weren't careful, they could lose everything: their business deal, their relationship, and even their lives.
