"Gary! Gary, please pick the call!" I'm running. I'm running so fast that I think I might have a heart attack, if that's even possible. Nonstop tears are rolling down my cheeks, blurring my vision from time to time. I bang on Gary's house, panting heavily. "Gary! Gary!" I shout. Panic rises up inside me all over again. I had feared for so much in life. But, this is the worst of all, of losing Gary, the boy who just tried to be the light against my darkness. Now, he'll be paying for something I am responsible, and that guilt will destroy me. If I even get the chance to live through this mess. The door to his house flies open, and his mom tries to focus on me as she rubs her eyes. "Myra?" She calls out, confusion evident in her groggy voice. "Honey, what are you doing here this late?"
