Lucian D'Aragon's POV
I was reprimanded by Elias when I told him what had happened; he blamed me for being careless, saying that I could have drawn the attention of the authorities to our existence.
Yes, vampires and humans lived together, but the humans aren't aware of our existence; most of them think we are just legends. They don't know we do exist among them.
Sometimes, I laugh at how the authorities claim all my previous attacks to be rogue animals from the thick forest. To me, it sounded dumb, what kind of an animal would leave a thousand body trails in a day.
Sounds dumb to you to right?
I also told Elias about my encounter with the strange woman,
"She could be the eclipse heart," Elias said, pacing around the room, worried
"Calm down, Elias; they didn't see me; the girl didn't even see my true eye colour."
"But she saw you holding a human, yes or no."
I couldn't answer that, because it was true, I was holding a human when I saw her.
"You have to stay away from her for now, and let's just hope she doesn't report what she saw to the authorities."
"Come on, Elias, don't be so paranoid; nothing is going to happen," I said feigning a smile.
I wasn't bothered about her telling the authorities; I was bothered about her being the Eclipse heart the prophecy spoke about; I couldn't afford to be tamed down.
I would only be a slave to her.
I, Lucian Vael D’Aragon, be a slave to a mere mortal? Never.
I made up my mind to stay away from the unique blood scent. No doubt if she's the eclipse heart, then she's my salvation. All I needed was just to take a bite from her, but I wasn't going to do that.
A few days later, I found myself doing the exact opposite of what I had decided to do.
Elias had a job in a human company so he goes to work every morning while I just take a stroll or do anything till he's back.
This time around, I found myself following the unique scent.
I followed her till I knew her home.
I was curious about her, I wanted to know more.
One particular day, I was doing my usual routine, following her around till it was evening.
She was in her room when I saw some people flying across her fenced walls and gate.
"Vampires!" I muttered under my breath
The bastards moved very fast like shadows, quiet and gentle, flying through the fenced walls with inhuman abilities their crimson eyes glowed in the darkness. They were silent, precise killers.
My body reacted before my mind could even think; my instinct drove me forward like a beast unleashed. In the blink of an eye, I was over the fence landing exactly in front of them, blocking their way to her.
I stood in the middle.
There were five assassins. No six-one remained in the shadows waiting for the right time to strike.
Their movements were precise and synchronised, just like the way the Crimson Court vampires were. I was sure it had to be them; their mask covered their faces, leaving only their crimson eyes.
They lunged at me with their fangs flashing under the moonlight.
Fools.
The first one came at me with a silver dagger, aiming straight for my heart.
I scoffed.
They didn't know who they were dealing with.
I caught his hand's mid-strike, twisting them until I heard the sound of his bone-shattering.
He screamed out loud, but it was cut short when I drove my hand through his chest ripping his heart out with the speed of light.
As he dropped to the ground, he disintegrated into ash.
The second vampire came at me swinging a curved dagger towards my stomach; I dodged it effortlessly, moving like air, and then I gave him a very brutal kick on his chest, causing blood to spill out of his mouth as he flew backwards, slamming into the wall which later broke in pieces.
Before he could stand up, I closed the distance tearing his head from his body.
Ash.
I smirked.
A contented smile appeared at the corner of my lips.
The remaining four circled me; I guess they understood that they wouldn't be able to defeat me if they came at me one by one, but even together, they were still no match for me.
One of them hissed, showing off his elongated fangs.
"Prince Lucian" he shouted my name "You shouldn't be here"
I laughed ominously "I shouldn't be here? Then where should I be? At the Crimson Court? On my throne?"
"You should be dead" He blurted out
My fangs came out "Why should I be dead?"
The third one came from behind me, moving faster than a lesser vampire should, but I was faster.
No amount of their speed could meet up with mine, I somersaulted at the last second, grabbing him by the throat after landing behind him and slamming him into the ground with enough force to shatter it.
He began to choke, coughing out blood and clawing at my hands as I tightened my grip. I heard the sounds of his bones crunching, and then with a flick of my wrist, I snapped his neck
Ash.
The fourth and the fifth vampire attacked me at once, together their blades slicing through the air; their synchronisation was almost perfect. One aimed his sword at my chest, and the other aimed his sword at my neck.
I made a swift movement backwards, grabbing the fourth vampire's arm and twisting it, driving his blade into his heart. He turned to ash.
The fifth vampire hesitated.
That was the worst error anyone could make.
I moved with the speed of light and got closer to him. I shot my hands forward, gripping the side of his head, and with a vicious snarl, I twisted his spine and snapped it, rendering him lifeless at my feet.
I finally turned in the direction of the last one, the one hiding in the shadows, probably hoping he would get a chance to strike
"Are you sure you want to do this?" I asked
He bolted.
I allowed him to leave so he could run back to Duke Viktor and deliver a message that I was there.
I could perceive fear in the air as I turned around, my Crimson eyes scanning the quiet house.
She was hiding under her bed.
