Her blood, my Curse

1069 Words
Lucian D'Aragon's POV I noticed her expression changed; she definitely recognised Me, but surprisingly, she wasn't moving away from me, and then the question came in. "it was you right?" She asked I had hoped that she wouldn't remember that brief encounter, but she did. "I don't know what you are talking about." I lied, turning to leave. "Please don't go; they might send reinforcement," she begged, her tone laced with fear. She was right; Duke Viktor could decide to send more. Besides, I allowed one to escape. He might just be lurking around, waiting for me to leave so he could finish the job they came for. I heaved a deep sigh. "I shouldn't be around you for long" "Why?" She asked almost immediately I watched as she sat on the bed, pointing to the couch nearby for me to sit, but I insisted I was going to remain on my feet; I couldn't afford to get comfortable. Not with her, the woman destined to be my rise or my downfall. There was something strange about this woman, too. I could hear other humans' thoughts, but for some reason, I couldn't hear hers; I figured the reason had to be related to the eclipse heart thing. "I am dangerous to you," I said in the calmest way possible. "You think I don't know what you did at Salem Road?" I bowed my head in shame, her first impression of me was my brutality. It bothered me. Why did it even bother me? I shouldn't even be worried about what she thinks of me, but unfortunately, I was. I wanted to sit next to her, tell her about my unquenchable blood thirst, tell her about the eclipse heart, the prophecy, and above all, have a taste of her sweet-smelling blood. But I couldn't; I was a danger to her. Likewise, she was a danger to me. "We shouldn't even be in this room together," I said, looking out the window. "You think I don't know that too?" She paused for a while "Look, Lucian, you just saved my life from those creatures-" "Creatures just like me" I interrupted. She exhaled, "Look, I know what you are. Honestly, I am finding it hard to believe that your kind exists, but you are standing right in front of me. I don't have a choice other than to believe." "I could suck you dry right now!" I shot at her "What's stopping you from doing that." She shot back at me. My fangs were threatening to come out, and I was beginning to feel myself lose control. "I need to go now" I blurted out, My voice laced with urgency "Not until you tell me what's going on. Why was I attacked? And more importantly—why aren't you sinking your fangs into me like you did with them?" I bowed my head in frustration. I wanted to leave, but I couldn't leave. It was as If her words were bounding me. I finally spoke out telling her about my bloodthirst. And how it started. Surprisingly, she was a good listener. "So there are times you can't control your blood thirst?" She asked I nodded. "So, in other words, you've been cursed?" I nodded She heaved a deep sigh. Okay, so what does this have to do with me? "There was a prophecy about an eclipse heart, hundreds of years ago that will either destroy me or save me..." I paused, trying to read her expression And she got the gist "Don't tell me you think I am this... eclipse heart?" I didn't give a reply. She scoffed, "There's no way I am this eclipse heart; I am just a mere mortal; there's nothing special about me." "You wouldn't know that for sure" "Come on, I have been living my life; I would know if it was special." "You are the one foretold in the prophecy, the one who holds my life in her palms, that would explain the scent of your blood." "My blood? Scent?" She scoffed "You are kidding right." "No, I am not; your blood smells different from every other human being; very soon, it's going to draw the attention of more evil vampires and other supernatural species," I said, turning around to look out the window. "You mean people like those vampires who came to kill me?" "They are from the same court I hailed from. I was supposed to be their king, after my father, but now they have another king, and he's going to do everything to make sure I am destroyed," I said, fixing my gaze on her, "which means your life is in danger." "Oh yeah, right i guess I have you to save me then." "Do you think I would want to save the only woman who can end my life?" I said my voice cold and fierce. I could tell she was shaken by what I just said. "I would rather die in your hands then, so If you are going to kill me, you should kill me now, and let's get this over with." This woman, Seraphina, was strange. I expected her to be afraid but she wasn't. I was going crazy about the fact that I couldn't tell what was going on in her head. "Since the day I saw you feeding on that human, I couldn't stop thinking about you." My ears stood erect. My eyes widened in bewilderment. "It was as if a part of me is missing, seeing you that day," she paused placing her hands on her head "I know this is weird and probably the most f****d up thing to say but it's just how I feel, I should be mad at you for feeding on humans, but you are a vampire that's your nature, well that was the excuse I told myself..." Her voice trailed off. For a brief moment, I lost control. I rushed her, pinning her to the wall, fangs to her neck about to dig into her skin and just at that moment, I heard my heartbeat. It had never happened in all my years of existence. Why now? What was making it beat? Was it because she had confessed the way she felt about a monster like me in the weirdest way possible? Was I close to my death? Was this a good sign? Or was this a bad omen?
