For a brief moment we all stand there, extremely afraid and shocked to do anything, then we swing into action. Dan and Andre, being the first to move, try to pry the girl off Dora. She is holding on tight, biting away at Dora's skin. Jim is with the girl's sister, he's shaking her violently.
"Hey, hey, what the heck is wrong with your sister. " he's yelling at the her.
The boys finally get a chance, they throw the girl to the ground. Dave and Kerla quickly run to help Dora, who is crying and trashing wildly on the floor. The girl is on her feet again in no time. She turns her head, the same creepy way she did a few minutes ago, she's looking for her victim.
Kerla and Andre are trying to stop the blood from the bite on her neck, luckily for her, none of her major vein had been punctured but she had more than a few bites on the neck.
"She nearly killed me, what is wrong with her." Dora is really agitated, she's screaming in between her sobs."she's crazy, she's freaking crazy."
The girl starts heading towards Dora again but Jim grabs a fork shaped branch and tries to hold her off. She's persistent, clawing intensely at the tree branch. She is hurting her self but she doesn't seem to care. She's hungry, she's determined, she's wild.
The girl's sister is conscious now, she sees her sister. She doesn't run to her to stop her from hurting herself instead she breaks down and starts to cry.
"Now is not the time for tears" I yell at her. "What is wrong with your crazy sister?"
She look at me like I'm an i***t. She shakes her head and continues crying
" Can't you see for your self." She glares at me. She continues to stare at me like I'm an ignorant child before she finally speaks.
"She has turned." She says in a whisper. "
"Turned into what?" I shriek. I am very angry.
The crazy girl starts to notice her efforts with the branch are not forthcoming. She hears me and turns around to my direction, another victim. She starts to come to me. Her movements are slow and uncoordinated at first, like her brain is experiencing a glitch. She had dislocated her leg during the struggle with Dora, She's dragging her right leg behind her but she doesn't seem to be in any pain. She starts moving faster, reaching out towards me, fueled by hunger. I scream and take off towards the road, the girl pursues. Dan chases after the girl and tackles her, they both tangle in the sand, rolling back and forth, until she's lying face down in the grass and he's on top of her, straddling her back, pinning her hands by her sides. She struggles to break free, grunting and growling with every move but Dan is very strong, he doesn't let go.
"Yo, yo, you better stay f*****g still." Dan says to the girl but she doesn't seem to acknowledge what he's saying. "Why the f**k is this b***h acting insane and shit." Dan looks to us, like we understand any of what is going on and he wants an explanation.
The girl's sister is fine now, though her eyes are still teary. she stands from the ground, picks up a heavy branch and walks over to Dan. She does all these slowly, like she's in a dilemma with herself, thinking if she should or shouldn't.
"It's okay." She whispers, placing on hand on Dan's shoulder. "You can get up now." Tears are streaming down her face again, silent tears. "Let me handle this." Her voice is shaky. Dan looks to us for confirmation. We don't know what she's about to do but all this drama has to end now.
"Let me take care of this." She says, turning to face me. We nod in unison like we are telepathic siblings. We should let her handle this mess, afterall she brought it to us. She seems to know what she's doing.
Dan gets up slowly from the crazy girl. She's still struggling and restless, her teeth is clattering. I notice she has not said any actual word since she started acting crazy. Dan kneels beside her first, holding her hands behind her to make sure she stays in place before swiftly jumping away.
"Talk to your sister. Do whatever you have to do." He says to the girl. "And do it quick."
The crazy girl has rolled over. There are so many scratches all over her. She looks very inhuman, with her pale face and bloody mouth. She is creeping me out. she lets out a howl, like she did before she started biting. It's short lived
A sharp, swift jab from a stick cracks her facial bone. The cracking sound of her skull echoing through our shocked silence. Blood oozes out of her ears and her dented face. Surprisingly the girl is still alive, she tries to roll away. Her sister raises the stick high above her head, with a strangled scream she smashes the head, blood and brain matter lands on my face sending a deep shiver down my spine and goose bumps all over my body. As we all stand and watch in horror, petrified by the sight before us. I look at to girl, she's headless, dead for the second time today. Then I look to her sister, she drops the stick, she wipes the tears from her eyes and turns to face us. I have a terrible feeling that this is just the beginning of whatever this is.
This morning when we woke up we had been exited about "the fresh start of our lives" but now we're terrified of what the future holds.
"So, What are we going to do about her, before she turns?" The girl says, pointing to Dora. The bleeding seems to have stopped but the rag around her neck is soaked with the redness of fresh blood. Kerla is throwing up into a nearby bush and Dave is rubbing her back.
"Turns into what?" Andre asks, standing up from Dora like she is the plague. Dora notices it. Her eyes are teary. The girl looks at us, one at a time like we're playing a prank on her and she is trying to find someone to give us away.
"Into that." She points in the direction of her sister, not looking at the dead, headless body. "Into a Zombie."
"Nooooooooooooo." Dora screams, she runs and starts to attack the girl who doesn't even defend herself. Jim pulls Dora away from the girl.
"I don't want to turn into that." Dora cries into Jim's shoulder "I don't want to die." She says very softly.
Kerla walks over to the girl. "Tell us everything." She says.
"Right now."
