“I think I and Beck were twelve years old and Jay thirteen when we became close after we were assigned the same room at the orphanage. Winters were brutal because the heating system in the building was as ancient as it and barely worked. All three of us used to pile into one bed to stay warm. One pretty bad days, when the orphanage would be rationing food and serve us very little food for breakfast and dinner… lets just say hunger and cold brings out the worse in human even kids. So Jared, who was already way bigger than most kids would guard the door, while Beck would tuck himself against me, and I’d tell them everything would be alright, spinning stories of how wonderful our future would be to escape the harsh reality of our life.” He looked at her briefly before turning back to the door
