One More Day

624 Words
I woke up in the corner of my shack, it was dark and dusty but its the only home I’ve ever known. Not exactly my first choice but also not really my choice at all. My parents used to stay with me when I was young but as I grew older they felt I needed to learn to care for myself, because soon enough I wouldn’t have them any more. When they finally told me our family secret it was hard to accept but again, I had no choice in any of this. When I turned 16 they explained to me how they were from rival packs yet the moon goddess chose them as mates. They fell in love but their elders did not approve, after sneaking away at night for months on end my mom ended up pregnant with me. Even then they wouldn’t give a second thought before telling them that they were banished, but because of my having a high ranking bloodline of two alpha wolves I was to be given to my mothers pack when I became of age to find a mate. I have a week to find them or my parents must force me to be with the alpha of the pack who rejected his mate for being of beta blood. I hope the moon goddess gives me someone I can love and not a judgmental man who doesn’t respect the bond between chosen mates. I made myself a small breakfast of berries and then I walked to the river to clean myself up. After bathing and getting ready for the day I decided to write in my journal. For a few hours I had been putting all of my thoughts into words occasionally crumpling a paper or two and rewriting specific things until I was satisfied, I felt I should take a nap to pass the time. As I tossed and turned until almost sunset I heard a knock at the door that made me jump. It couldn’t be them picking me up already, could it? My mother said it would be on my birthday but the night before?! I went to the entrance of my shack and opened it to find a handsome man looking to be 23 with blonde hair and green eyes, he had a kind face but you could tell he was strong willed. “You must be Amara, I’m Theo, my alpha ordered me to bring you to our pack so you could settle in before tomorrow.” He said with authority in his voice yet still seeming friendly. “Yes I am, I didn’t think you would be here so soon, but I’ll grab my things.” I replied hesitant because I was just a little nervous for what I was about to encounter. The drive was quiet but I didn’t mind since I had been in solitude for about 2 years now it was almost comforting knowing it wouldn’t be so silent tomorrow. After what seemed to be 3 hours I felt the car slow as a gate opened for us, we drove further down the path and I looked around seeing the most beautiful buildings, my mind couldn’t collect when I saw the one we parked in front of. It was at least four stories high with a dark auburn shade. Theo came to my side and opened the door for me. “ Your room is up the stairs on the third floor, last door down. Breakfast will be brought to you and some new clothing so you can be prepared to meet the alpha and our pack, if you need anything just holler my name and I’ll be there, goodnight Amara.” “Goodnight Theo, Thank you”
