Mine

Mira’s POV “Omg, I’m stuffed,” Talli moans as she rubs her still perfectly toned stomach. “I couldn’t eat another bite.” “So, I guess you don’t want this piece of cheesecake” I say sliding her untouched dessert my way. “Touch it and you’ll lose a finger,” she growls playfully. I can’t help but laugh. She is so going to finish that whole plate and probably a few cookies to. I turn back to my own plate but suddenly the chocolate cake doesn’t seem as appealing. My nose twitches as I catch a much more enticing scent. I turn slowly in my seat as I try to find the source. “What’s up?” Talli asks, noticing the intense look on my face as I continue to search for the smell. “I don’t know,” I say. “Something smells amazing. Like baking bread and pine.” “Huh. I don’t smell anything. Are you sure?” I just nod not even really listening anymore. I stand up and start to follow the scent across the porch. Up ahead a group of air heads are circling two of the most handsome men I have ever seen. One was tall with dark hair and deep green eyes. The other was blonde with blue eyes and a slightly smaller physique. As I got closer, I can see him start to sniff the air, perhaps looking for the source of the same scent as I am. His eyes roam over the gaggle of she wolves before snapping to me. I’m suddenly frozen. My heart is beating so fast I can hardly breathe. I can feel Talli standing next to me but all I can think about is the chiseled jaw and perfect smile gracing the face of the s*x god before me. Rolen’s POV Mitch and I find ourselves wading through a gaggle of she-wolves when I catch that same sweet scent. It’s stronger than ever and close at hand. I can hear Mitch flirting with the ladies around us but all I can do is search the crowd for the source. Suddenly my eyes lock on to a pair of deep green eyes and my wolf pushes forward, growling “Mine!” I push through to stand in front of my mate and take a deep breath of her apple cinnamon skin. “mine,” she mimics so low that even with my wolf hearing I have to strain to hear the words. There is another woman standing next to my mate and she is staring at her friend’s face in shock. “Mira, di… did you just say what I think you said?” her tall friend asks, placing her hand on her friend’s shoulder. She glances at me as if to ask my permission to touch my mate. This girl is clearly close to my mate. The last thing I want to do to alienate Mira’s friends. Mira, my Mira. Just the sound of her name makes my heart beat faster. I give her a small nod and a quick smile before turning back to my little mate. Mitchell pushes his way over to us and his trail of she-wolves wander off in search of other alphas to catch in their claws. “Rols, everything ok?” Why does he insist on using that stupid nickname, and in front of my mate. Ugh. Mira breaks her eyes from mine when her friend starts snickering. Great first impression, thanks mitch. Time to take control before things get anymore embarrassing. “Hi, Mira. I’m Rolen.” I give her my most winning smile while giving mitch a little nudge in the ribs. Mira’s friend just laughs harder at his over the top grunt of pain. He gives me a fake hurt look before giving my mate a half bow. “Hello, Mira was it. I am Mitchell Young, Prince Rolen’s beta and better looking friend.” He smirks as he kisses her hand. I can’t help the growl that escapes me and Mitch just laughs as he backs away in mock fear. What a ham. Mira and her friend are giggling at his antics now. I can’t help but smile. That laugh is the sweetest sound I could imagine. Mira introduces us to her friend Talli and offers us a seat at their table for dessert. Everything tastes delicious but nothing smells as good as my mate. I can’t wait to taste those pouty lips of hers. I was just loosing myself in images of her soft skin stretched out over my silk sheets, taut and ready for her prince, moaning my name, when my father’s head of security walks over. “I’m sorry your highness but it is time to retire. Your mother asked me to escort you and Beta Mitchell to your rooms in the packhouse.” He eyes Mira suspiciously for a moment and I growl at him to back off. I just know he’s going to run to my parents with stories of girls sitting on my lap and flirting. My parents’ guards are always so overprotective. Not that this has ever happened before but being a prince does have some disadvantages. Still this is my mate he’s eyeing not some gold-digging she-wolf looking to play princess. “I’ll join you momentarily, Evans. Please wait for us by the door.” I say turning back to my sweet little mate. “Wait! You really are the prince?” Talli bellows. The nearer tables turn to look at us and I can see some of them whispering and pointing our way. No doubt rumors of the prince’s dalliances will be all over the pack by morning. “Who did you think he was?” Mitch laughs. “I told you he was the prince.” “I thought you were just joking or trying some dumb line. s**t. Mira your mate is literally a prince!” Talli whispers. She seems to have noticed all the attention she is drawing. Finally. “I know,” Mira whispers back with a small giggle before turning back to me. “So what does this mean? I mean what happens now. I guess. Its not everyday you find your mate and he turns out to be a real life royal?” “I’m not really sure either,” I say. “I wasn’t expecting to find my mate tonight. I should take you to meet my parents privately first I guess. We can decide what happens next from there. I’m sure they are still up. I don’t want to wait till morning. Especially if that means spending another night without you.” It’s weird just a few hours ago I wouldn’t have cared at all about sleeping alone. It’s not just that as a prince I’m held to a higher standard, I’ve always been one of those wolves who prefers to wait for their mate. She is literally a gift from the moon goddess and I would do anything for her. Especially now that I’ve met her. She really is amazing. “Its late, we can talk to them in the morning. I don’t want to leave you either but I don’t want anyone starting rumors about your highness’ conduct,” Mira smiles. She tries to stand up and I can’t help but pull her in close. I can feel the sparks as my arms wrap around my mate. I breathe in one last deep breath of her sweet apple scent before releasing her. Mitch and I walk the ladies to the door. I offer to walk them to their rooms but Evans is waiting to take us upstairs so I don’t protest when they decline. Mitch and I exchange a look before following Evans upstairs. Our rooms are on the Alpha’s floor. My parents have the room next to mine and the alpha and his wife are across the hall. Mitch’s room is further down across from the alpha’s son. Who appears to have finally woken up. I watch as he stumbles down the stairs half asleep, half hungover with a skimpily clad she-wolf on either arm. The fool actually has the nerve to wink at me as he passes. “If that guy doesn’t grow up his dad will never be able to retire,” says Mitch with at grimace. “Unfortunately a lot of young alphas’-to-be act the same way. I’m sure the Alpha will straighten him out before he turns the pack over to him.” “True, well I’m beat. Are we training in the morning or will you be to busy, lover boy?” “Ha, very funny, I can’t wait to see how you act when you find your mate.” “No way, I’ll never be that instantly whipped,” he laughs as he heads off down the hall. “0600 on the training field,” I call out. I can just hear him groaning as I close my bedroom door. It’s nearly midnight so I decide to skip the shower and head straight to bed. At least I can still smell my mate’s scent on me as I drift off.
