Lucien
"WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT that the heartbreaker racer is attending his classes like a good boy?" Andy, one of my best class buddies, teased. "Not gonna lie, it's good to see you Luce."
If only they found out the real reason.
"Don't call me that, all these classes are already giving me a f*****g headache," I sighed, I wanted the day to pass so I could race my existence out. It was therapeutic for me, like my own heroine. "Anyway, you want to sniff some coke before we go to our last class?" We were on the stiff benches outside, I crossed my legs and looked out at Sav's cheer team training.
"Sure, their practice is done anyway. My girl wants to talk to me after about something, so maybe after?"
"Guess we'll just stay here a little while." I huffed.
Savannah Bensen was my spirit animal, the bubbly girl had unlimited energy. Ever since her dad was a business partner with mine, we saw each other often. We had crazy adventures together, from pranking our dads by chipping their cars, to incessant doorbell ringing and cooking frenzy for the past year.
I wasn't much active with her recently, only because she caught feelings for me. While she practiced on her leaps, she would sneak a peek at me to see if I was attentive to her before she proceeded. In every practice she had, she did the same thing over and over.
As if Andy read my mind, he wiggled his eyebrows at me, "what's going on between you and Sav?"
"She's just my bestfriend, nothing much going on." I quipped before I changed the subject, "so, I heard you are going back to racing?"
He was hesitant before he admitted, "I'm just thinking about it, ever since the accident and my leg therapy," he was not bad as a racer, I had seen him hardcore driven by it, he had good skills. The downside of illegal racing was tampering with the engines as a way to cheat and win the race, that was what corrupted his progress. "I've been wanting to get back on track, but legally this time."
His downfall was what everyone waited for, he was the third royalty in the races, but what hindered his dream was Reese and his idiots. They sabotaged his engine and it erased Andy from the charts, making way for the rivals. There was a long list of haters that craved for the title, but I was the racing Knight. The top of the hierarchy.
Alexia, Andy's girl, and Sav came with their mini red skirts that matched with their white crop tops, showing their belly piercings.
"That's my jumping clown," I cheered jokingly. She slapped my shoulder before she slid on my lap and I held her hip, she laid her head on my shoulder. "You look like you need a shower." Her cinnamon spice smell allured me as she stretched out her long tanned legs.
"I could use a shower, but I'm too sleepy," she groaned, digging her head onto my neck. Andy placed his head on Alexia's shoulder, his arms encircled around her.
"Another trouble at the office?" I questioned and she nodded. She spent late nights at her dad's office to audit his financial documents. I used to entertain her back then, before the announcement about the illegal race competition.
"So, you didn't tell me that you knew Caitlyn," she insisted. Yes, I loved her and was overprotective when it came to the guys who tried to use her, but she couldn't put a lid on her jealousy.
It was a good thing that Alexia and Andy chattered away and didn't pay attention to us, "Sav, just drop it." That got her mad as she stood up and had her hands on her waist.
"Is there something I should know about?" She demanded, which struck my nerves more.
"If there is something, you will be the first one to know." I removed the hair on her face to the side and gave her a subtle smile before I stormed off for my drug break, she just stomped her feet and ran off to the shower rooms.
The white powder uplifted me when I took a couple of sniffs, it was a brain reliever and I sighed while closing my eyes. Andy joined me and we were against each other in the cubicle. The warning bell of the final class, chemistry lab session was the cherry on top.
I adjusted my jacket and Andy was about to say something, but stopped when he was about to, so I pointedly looked at him and he scratched the back of his head, "can I practice with you tonight?"
"I don't think it's a good idea," I said before I clapped his back, "but we can practice just the two of us." I mended and he let out an exaggerated sigh.
"Just forget I even asked, let's go before Mrs. Renaldi bust our asses off."
Just one more twenty minutes. I mentally repeated and Andy dragged me to the class.
Only for my vision drawn to the fair haired girl, strands tumbled over her shoulders in soft waves, the color of wild honey kissed by daylight. There was a quiet aura about her, the kind that made the world momentarily slow, just to take her in.
I was intrigued by her, she was a mystery pleaded to be solved. She was spaced out, the camera on her lap and the straps in her grip.
Purposefully, I decided to sit on the left side of her, she noticed and gulped tensely, but released an exhale when Andy sat next to me, the quarterback and basketballer behind us. They were Andy's friends, I wasn't close with any of them.
After dozing on and off while Mrs. Renaldi bored us to death about atoms, I was immediately out like a bolt for the race practice. I felt like my soul needed it desperately to unleash the first-day-of -highschool tension.
Technically, it wasn't the first day. It was the second week, but it was a start for me. I kept my word and I was sure that he would keep his end of the deal.
Reese was ogling at Caitlyn and it got under my skin, she was obviously uncomfortable when she walked by in a rush.
I was going to beat his ass off tonight before the party.
