'Good night!' I called to my coworkers before I left for the night. Work wasn't too bad, truth be told, but I was kinda beat, yet looking forward to hanging out with my friend Tobi. As soon as I got into my car, I pulled out my phone and checked my notifications. Despite the fact that she had come in earlier, Marie still blew up my phone with no less than 14 text messages. The first several, her texting me long messages about how she was upset with me for not letting her know sooner that I wouldn't be home and that I was spending too much time with my friend Tobi.

I know, as a wolf, I shouldn't say this, but there are genuinely times I wonder what the f**k the Moon goddess is doing when it comes to your fate..Zac growled in my head. 

I shrugged. I'm not sure anymore man. I've just about completely given up on the mate bond. I doubt it'll happen anyway...

Zac became silent as I clicked on my chatapp notifications. I could feel him perking up slightly as I saw a message from Connor.

What did she say?? He asked, curious and excited.

Relax man. She said she was getting out of school. Nothing exciting.

School. She must've been in her final year of school then. She didn't look much younger than myself.

I quickly shot her a reply back.

*oh cool. i'm assuming you're in grade 12? sorry for the late reply, i just got off work. i'm damien btw. i just realized that i never really flat out told you my name, though you could just look at the profile....*

Have you ever had a wolf wag it's tail while it's in your head? It's kinda like a pleasant little headache..Anyways, Zac was wagging his tail in my head as soon as I hit the message.

Bro, what is with you? I asked, really wondering what the hell his problem was. In the six years that I have 'had' Zac, he had never once acted like this before.

Something about her makes me happy is all. Zac said simply. I can't figure out what it is, but she just...Feels familiar, like...comforting wise. I don't know. This would be so much easier if we were still a part of the pack...

I put my phone down and turned on the car, heading towards Tobi's house.

I can't do anything about that right now Zac. Alpha Luis' orders are law for Blood Moon. I'm the next Beta male, but we both have to prove ourselves to Alpha Luis, his wolf Juan, Beta Jim, and his wolf Ronan. Trust me, I would love to be back home, training for our position as Beta wolf of Blood Moon pack, and being able to talk to someone about all of this bullshit...But that's not in the cards...Either until we find our mate, or until we have broken this black magic.

Zac went silent as I pulled into Tobi's driveway. I saw Tobi's shadow move inside his living room window. He was probably getting some drinks prepared and the video games ready. He was one of the few people I could stomach to be around, and he was a werewolf too, so he was my closest connection to a pack I would find. I sighed as I turned off the car and climbed out. My phone pinged, and I saw the notification pop up.

*i'm connor...nice to meet you? lol. n no worries, where do you work that you're working an 11 hr shift? n yea, i graduate in less than 2 months.*
