A typical day at SwiftVoyage. Steady with the occasional busy hour, snotty nosed kids begging their parents for candy, asshole customers who couldn't understand why I couldn't sell them a pack of cigarettes without seeing their I.D.
I sighed as I walked behind the counter to check the computer for a few things, and pulled out my phone. I was hoping that Connor girl had messaged me back, but she didn't. I noticed she had read my message, but left me at that.
Maybe she's busy....Zac thought quietly, though he sounded rather...anxious.
Anxious? My wolf? Anxious?
What's going on with you man? You usually don't give a s**t if they message back or not, why is this girl so different? I asked him.
I feel connected to her. Not like the mate pull, but like...I don't know how to describe it. I just feel she's meant to be in our lives somehow.
I shook my head and chuckled a bit. I maybe a werewolf and I may be tied to a pack, but I'm mostly a loner. The events of my life had not allowed me to really go back to my packs grounds, and I wasn't interested in finding my mate...Especially with that b***h, Marie.
I heard the 'bell' go off, indicating that someone had walked into the store. Without looking up, I said loudly: 'Welcome to SwiftVoyage!'
'It would be a nicer welcome if you looked up and gave me a smile'.
I grit my teeth and looked up to see Marie. She was my legal guardian and I f*****g HATED her.
'I'm busy doing work. You know that, seeing as you work for the same company. What do you want?' I growled, trying to control Zac from coming forward and screaming profanities at her.
'I just wanted to see my boyfriend is all'. She said, smiling disgustingly and pulling up her pants.
'We are not in a relationship. I'm not sure how many damn times I've had to tell you this. We are not dating, we never have and never will be. Now, if you're not here to buy anything, get out.'
Marie huffed and rolled her eyes. She was short, about 5'2" max, overweight, long dark brown hair and eyes, and I swear to the Goddess, she looked like a rat. I genuinely despised her. She was my legal guardian, she was 15 years my senior and was telling everyone we were dating.
'Fine, I'm here to actually see what you wanted to do for dinner tonight. I was in the area and figured I'd stop by anyways.' She said, crossing her arms.
'You could have texted me that. I'm going to hang out with Tobi later anyways, so I'm not going to be around to have dinner later.'
Marie opened her mouth to argue, but then another customer walked in.
'Welcome to SwiftVoyage!' I had said, watching Marie narrow her eyes at me and walk out the door. I sighed, unhappily awaiting the barrage of texts and emails she would surely send me.
